Yep, had the same problem but I had already been through this with the DAZ Hydra so I knew what was wrong. Take a look at the SIZE of the texture - my system couldn't handle it but when I reduced pixel size down to 75% - 80% of the original it rendered just fine. Of course I have the original backed up for when I upgrade :) Now, imagine having about two characters in a scene, clothed from head to toe, an environment scene and other props, transmapped hair and Global lights. Nice way to melt your pc, eh?

Hey there! Thanks for your reply! Yeah, I tried loading other 4000 x 4000 textures and they seemed to load fine. I even loaded this texture in P5 and it worked fine. I think the texture is only 500 more than 4000 x 4000. So I don't know if it's my PC or what? I suppose I could try reducing the size a lil and see what happens. :) That's a good idea to save the original. :) I have 4 Gigs of RAM (which I think Windows reads 3. something or other of it LOL!), so I'm not sure if it's just Poser 4 or what. But I'll try as you said. My computer is acting up recently with a lot of things. ::sigh:: Yeah! I can imagine even on a fast computer that would really bog the memory down. Thanks again! And I'll go try your suggestion. I hope it works, if not I'm going to do a crazy dance (Just kidding LOL) ~RnRWoman~

Don't forget Poser is really bad with memory. Check that you've done these things recently too: emptied Temp, emptied Temp Internet cache, defragged, etc. It should be ok on your system. Also if you've been working with Poser for some time and have loaded a variety of items with large textures and done many renders it's a good idea to restart the computer. I only have 1GB of memory so I get this often with large textures and have to improvise. :( Good luck :)

Kalypso: Yeah, I will try to empty my internet cache out, etc and see how that goes. I'm not sure why it only does it with this texture and only in Poser 4. It's really weird. I tried resizing it and loading the texture but that doesn't work. Unless I should restart Poser 4 after doing so? Sorry to hear you have some trouble with it too. And thanks for your good luck wishes. :) beryld: Thanks for the suggestions. And for the render previews! I'm not sure why this is going on with my comp. But I hope one of the suggestions mentioned will work. God Bless! ~RnRWoman~

Forgive me for seeing the humor here, RnRWoman, but your first image reminds me of the Queen of Mars from "Duck Dodgers". But that's a good thing as I find her one sexy 'toon!
Sincerely,
Bill

Tempt the Hand of Fate and it'll give you the "finger"!

Did you install the Memory Updater for systems with more than 1 Gig of Ram for Poser 4 from Curious labs?

I had trouble with the texture as well, with the blacked out face, not only that but when it would render it would seem to hang after.
RnRWoman posted Sat, 05 June 2004 at 7:24 AM
Yeah I've installed the Memory updater many times and it still seems to have problems at times... I've tried other various hi-res textures and they work fine. It's just this one texture. Sorry to hear you're having the same problems, R. :( I did however resize the texture as Kalypso suggested and it now loads properly. Thanks, Kalypso! I wonder why it works in Poser 5 with the old size tho. Redfern: LOL!! A lil humor is needed here. :) Thanks everybody! I wish I could get it to work w/ it's normal size tho :/ Lemme know if any of you find a solution. God Bless! ~RnRWoman~

Out of curiosity you are working in P4 not Pro Pack right? I wonder, since P5 seems to work fine for you if it's not the BUM file bump map (if there is one) that is just too big to handle, bum files contrary to jpgs are notoriously huge. Have you tried rendering it with another character's bump map for the head?

Yep. Just Poser 4 not Pro Pack. I don't think the Kimshara package came with bump maps? I did change the file size down to 3500 x 3500 and it worked. It's weird, I don't understand why it would work on P5 rather than Poser 4. I think perhaps anything above 4000 x 4000 or something to that effect Poser 4 gets confused with and can't use it for the preview. I dunno. Or it could be my PC. Thanks for your inquiries! :) God Bless! ~RnRWoman~
