I've been reading about PBooost but my english is limited so I have to ask the question directley, with an explanation.
If I make a folder under figuers and name it Vic3 clothing and make sub folders like Dresses, Skrits, shoes aso will I be able to move those clothes to my made folders? And can the same be done with the mat pose files and the props?
Thanks for reading
Freya

Hi Freya... Only with Poser 5! Poser 4 cannot have sub-folders in the library folders. Even with Poser 5, it's a pain to navigate through lots of sub-folders in the library panel. PBooost works differently to sub-folders by allowing you to make 'lower-level' banks of content. Each library type (characters, pose, etc.) can be divided into a series of 'banks' like 'Vic3', 'Vic1', 'Mike', 'Default', 'Steph' etc. Each bank can have a whole array of folders and sub-folders within it. There's then room for you to have your poses AND mat files in the appropriate pose banks and still be able to find what you want! With PBooost, you then switch each library to the bank you want and only that content then appears in the library tab in Poser. Hope this makes sense! Howard:))

Oh... you can move stuff around however you like between the folders and banks to arrange things how you like... by dragging with the right-hand mouse button. H:))

That was what I needed to know. I'm sure it can do a lot of other stuff too, I'm just not that far yet, got Poser 5 about a month ago. Will buy PBooost tomorrow (It's later here now, very late) Thanks for your reply (and so quick) :o)

I've had PBoooost for a while, and I've got this funny feeling that there is more to it than meets the eye. Its a great tool for organizing the clutter that we tend to accumulate ..... forgive me if this is a dumb question, but does it actually make your Poser session RUN faster ?
nickedshield posted Sun, 06 June 2004 at 9:21 AM
Pboost itself doesn't make Poser run faster but by moving folders from the runtime eliminates some of Poser's search time so theoretically it can seem to run faster. Think of it as when you first installed Poser, wam-bam, everything came up right now! Start adding goodies and it starts to slow. Now, if pboost could move texturers, woopie! But that is an impossible task. Too many varables involved.
I must remember to remember what it was I had to remember.

Oh, but Poser will move faster if you get CorrectReference. And it will be even better with CorrectReference Pro (CRPro). Did you know: The default Poser 4 installation has 1195 bad references. The default Poser 5 installation has 3486 bad references. These bad references cause Poser to run slow because it is looking for those files. Poser runs faster when you fix those references. If you have CRPro, you can easily move your geometry files, as well as texture and "injection" references. CRPro will help find the proper stuff and fix the references for you.

Thanks for bringing up CRPro. Albeit it's a great program for what it was designed to do it still does not address the issue of moving texture folders within pboost. Again, eleiminate the folders, speed search- less to look for. Sure, a correct reference will speed things up. CR may or may not work on all systems. CRPro might have resolved that issue. I had too many errors with CR I went with EditPad Pro. Text editor, I can do what I want with as many files within a folder I want at a time.

I was scared to use CR because of the problem it had when different textures had the same name. I bought CRPro, though, and I'm very happy with it. Worth the price just for fixing all those products that come MAT files that link to nonexistent .bum files. One thing I wish CRPro had: an option to delete files that have been flagged as a problem. A lot of times, these are remnants of a product you've removed or moved, or P4 MAT files when there's a complete set of PP or P5 MAT files. It would be nice to be able to just delete them. You can "explore" them and delete them, but when there's 20 MAT files or whatever, it would be easier just to delete them from within the program. I also wish it would remember the last repair profile you used. I'm always accidently running the P4 profile on P5, since that's the default.

"I also wish it would remember the last repair profile you used. I'm always accidently running the P4 profile on P5, since that's the default." randym77, Create a new custom profile, and give it a name starting with a letter before "S", say "Preferred ...". It'll then default to that, as it defaults to the first one in the list, not the P4 per se.

How do I create a custom profile?
layingback posted Sun, 06 June 2004 at 2:23 PM
Click "Add new profile", to right of Repair profiles panel. Tip: Select the nearest profile first, and the initial settings will come up checked already for you.

Thanks! I had no idea what to do with all those options, so I was just using the defaults. :-)
