Got bored with over-complexifying every little project, so I forced myself to do something quick to test some materials and lighting setups... Didn't think it was gallery-worthy, but interesting? (shrugs)

Interesting indeed. 8) I concur with Bryster. That blue glass cone is cool. The other mats are really nice too. 8)

The cool floor mat would be nice for a simulated radiosity scene.

Aye, the cone's effect was entirely unanticipated. It's just a light in side the cone, perhaps those ray-like entities are another life form, living deep inside Bryce? Or, it could just be refraction from the cubes, or something.

as a Bryce novice in a lot of areas (mat creation especially!) I am curious... Are these mats you are just testing out that you've found as is? Are they mats you've modified from others? Or did you make these from scratch (from scratch I guess means starting from nothing and twiddling the settings in Bryce?). Or are they something else altogehter?

I think ZESCANNER means....where the hell did you get those .mats.....?

Give me that blue precioussssssssssssssss.... ;-)

shadowdragonlord posted Mon, 07 June 2004 at 2:17 PM

(laughs!) Aye, Zescanner, I make all of my amts from "scratch", and in this case they are all procedurals, meaning I spent a minute in the DTE (Deep Texture Editor). If there are any particular mats you like, just send me a message and I can email them to you! There is some good material on this site about the DTE and it's functions, do a quick search in the Bryce Forums and you'll find a plethora of good stuff...

Here's a close-up I found of an asteroid mapped with that rocky texture, it's a pretty detailed texture but no too realistic.

That asteroid texture would look very convincing on a seashell. I love it!

Very cool materials Dragonlord! Your asteroid looks like a jade boulder I found once while prospecting.
