I'ma doin an old trainyard. Now, this isn't the cliche for a "relaxing place", but I've always found something relaxing about being in some old rundown place. No idea why. Well. I decided to manifest this (big word of the day) in the form of da' picture! Plus I think trains are pretty cool, so I'm getting the mixture of the nice relaxing abandoned trainyard thing.

Of course, you can't see all of that yet, just the train. MWHAHA!!!

(this my WIP to ever post! hehe) So please! Any ideas on detail? I'm just thinking about the train part right now.

Is this a Bryce model or another app? I know you create awesome models just can't remember what app you use. This is a fantastic looking engine.

This is a very cool original design Mrdodobird, quite unlike any piece of rolling stock I've ever seen. I really like it. I like "rundown places" and trains too. Oh, since you like rundown and decrepit stuff allow me to recommend the following site if you haven't seen it before. It's pretty cool and I think you might like it.

Nice looking train Mrdodobird. Nice modeling too. Bryce booleans can be your friend for sure. I like modeling with booleans... just never have done much of anything worth posting really. That is a really cool site Danamo.

The mind boggles at the thought of keeping track of what's what in the wireframe! Looks really great.

Wow, this is excellent. I think the level of detail is already fantastic, and even more impressive that this is done with just booleans. Can't wait to see the final image.

as far as I know..'steampunk' is only a few years old, if that..sort of futuristic equipment with obsolete-looking technology..I've seen it in reference to sci-fi novels, like The Peshawar Lancers, the Difference Engine, etc. It's a cool model, if that's not to fogy-ish..;)

It's a lovely image, Mr Dodo. But alas, that train ain't going nowhere (even when new). There's an engineering mistake. You have a rod going from the piston to the 1st set driving wheels(call that the driving rod), then a 2nd rod (slave rod) going to the next set of wheels. (Not sure about the technical terms for these things, but I hope you get my drift.) Trouble is that they are separate. After less than one revolution, the two rods will collide and everything will shudder to a stop. Simple fix: connect the driving rod to the slave rod (offset outwards a bit) and all will work...:-) Cheers, Diolma

You weren't supposed to see that- I mean... That's the emergency brake. It's engaged now.

diolma posted Thu, 10 June 2004 at 4:40 PM

LOL - The emergency back brake block broke!! (Do NOT try to say that too fast..) Cheers, Diolma
