I AM TRYING TO SHOP FOR A GOOD PROGRAM TO USE WITH BRYCE TO CREATE MORE REALISTIC PLANTLIFE. I AM GOOD WITH BRYCE, AVERAGE WITH POSER AND NOT SO GOOD WITH OTHER PROGRAMS LIKE L-PARSER AND OTHERS. JUST TO GIVE YOU AN IDEA OF MY INABILITIES. SO...I NEED A PROGRAM THAT IS KINDA EASY TO USE. BUT A GOOD ONE. IF IT HAS AN INTERFACE LIKE BRYCE OR POSER (MODERATE DIFF.) THEN THAT SHOULD WORK. DOES ANYBODY HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS. AND WHAT DO YOU THINK OF VUE COMPARED TO X-FROG. I HAVE NONE OF THESE BUT I AM NO LONGER CONTENT WITH BRYCES' PLANTS SEEING ALL THE IRREGULARITES AND REALITY PEOPLE ARE ACHIEVING WITH THESE OTHER ORGANIC PRODUCING PROGRAMS. 1 REQUIREMENT IS THAT I NEED TO BE ABLE TO CREATE FILES IMPORTABLE TO BRYCE4. There was a discussion about this a while back, Vue 4 and Xfrog are totally different programs. Vue 4 is essentially a more advanced version of Bryce, while Xfrog's sole purpose is modeling plants and organic forms. I have not used Xfrog but the results are impressive. I've heard from reviews though that it has somewhat of a learning curve.

If you want to create plants and export them to Bryce, then you need the Frog. You can download a demo from their website. It does have a learning curve if you want to create a plant from scratch, but it also comes with a lot of preset plants and you can buy entiere libraries of plants to get you started as well. Vue plants really shine only within Vue (where you can edit them and distort them with a wind force).

I am using TreePro and am very happy. Only the trees can become huge - when you want to model very detailed ones. The interface is much easier than XFrog i find. I tried the Cinema plugin of XFrog and simply was not able to model a good tree. In TreePro i am in less than 5 minutes. But of course, that is only my 2 cents. Not to forget, TreePro is not cheap. In version 6 it can do wind etc as well.

I think I'm going to have to get that, especially those conifer trees, they blow Vue's away completely. Thanks for the link wabe, I keep forgetting I wanted to look them up!

would be interesting to check out a demo of treepro, 495$ is alittle to much to shell out on a tree only app without even getting to try its interface, looks nice thats for sure, but i never buy a app without trying it.

Might want to check out Arboretum, an add on to Forester. Now exports to .obj according to the web site. Can't hardy beat $35. jon

I use Xfrog, and you can create amazing things .. but the registration can be slow to receive, the learning curve isn't quick, the interface isn't optimal, and the output of a realistic tree adds huge polys to render machine (they sell a reducer for more $)
