I'm having problems with uploading my images. Whenever I upload, the image shows up as a red X (you know what I'm talking about)... I'm behind a firewall, and I've tried turning off Norton AND I've enabled the "Firewall/proxy friendly" mode for Internet Explorer... is this a bug, or a problem with my computer? I've attached a thumbnail to test if I can submit images to the forum

Also make sure your system date and time are correct and that you are accepting RR cookies. Stacey

Having the same problem. All pics, thumbnails or full, are red crossed. Never had the problem before, have cleaned my pc (spyware, windows washer, anti-virus) and nothing changed. Any ideas?

Is it because I'm behind a firewall? I don't want to have to ask my dad to put my computer in the DMZ (Demilitarized Zone) because that would make my computer a sitting duck on the internet...

A firewall shouldn't be an issue. I'm behind both a hardware and a software wall both of which are screwed down tight and I have no trouble. Try the following, it usually clears these kinds of problem up: Log off from the site and close your browser. Check that your computer's time and date are correctly set. Restart your browser, delete all cookies and then come back and log into the site again. 99% of the time this will clear the red X problem. Kev.

It turns out I'm the remaining 1%. It doesn't work. ARRRRGH!

Rats! Okay, maybe there's something a little off with the jpg's you're producing? What application are you using to make them? If you like, I'll do a test. Email one of the images that you know doesn't work for you to me at kbennett@renderosity.com and I'll see if it posts okay for me. Kev.

Okay, I'll email you the JPG that I keep trying. I had to resize it to a small size (like, half the original 1024*768) but I had no problems uploading it to Ofoto. I'll email it to you.

Well kbennet, here was I thinking I was intelligent enough to work out the blatantly obvious. I read your 'check your computers time and date' advice and thought 'pfft... what does he think I am? Some kind of idiot?' but I checked it anyway. My PC thought it was November. Insert sound of hand slapping forehead and a Homer-like 'Doh!'. Changed the date and, surprise, everything is back to normal. Thanks for your help kbennet and thanks for stating the completely obvious. I will now go and sit on the not-as-smart-as-you-thought-you-were-are-you? bench with all the other eejits.

grin It catches a lot of people out, elguappo. You should have quite some crowd over there ;) It turns out that there's something weird about the jpegs in question that are coming up as red X's. I can't open them in any of my image viewers, they all complain about 'invalid SOF markers' or invalid file types. Kev.

Well, my image uploads work right now, thanks to Kev. It turns out my JPG's were incompatible with the Internet. Either that or they were corrupted....

It's working... cool :)
