Staci has hit the DAZ scene. She looks like a real cutie and I'm tempted to run over there an buy her right now!

No link, huh... =P

Veritas777 posted Wed, 16 June 2004 at 9:56 PM

Not sure how this whole thing works yet- A FREE Staci is available someplace, either at DAZ or Dark Whisper's site.

Don't know if she is the "intro" Staci or the final Staci,
or what...

Saw her at Daz - what a fun figure. Fantastic work Dark Whisper! All the items look marvelously thought out and very suitably designed to the character. Great potential for fun and additional items. She's cart-ed. : ) Dave

Now that's a GREAT looking toon character I must say. Design looks very "fresh" and interesting. Kind of like LaRoo though in it's shape. Cuter facial features like GIRL, however.

Tools :  3dsmax 2015, Daz Studio 4.6, PoserPro 2012, Blender v2.74

System: Pentium QuadCore i7, under Win 8, GeForce GTX 780 / 2GB GPU.

The free Staci is available at 3D Universe in the downloads section, a low res model with no uvmapping, far fewer morphs and a painted-on outfit. You sure can't beat the price though! The full Staci package is available at Daz, check new releases in the store she's right at the top. Very affordable I might add.

Just materialized her up shading-style. First render. Low-res version.

FishNose posted Thu, 17 June 2004 at 5:42 AM

I can't find ANY nude renders of her anyplace. And I certainly can't make a buying decision without knowing what she looks like :o( :] Fish

-Yggdrasil- posted Thu, 17 June 2004 at 5:46 AM

There's literally nothing underneath her swimsuit on the Low Res version. Someone will buy her and drop a few nudies either here or Renderotica.

Casette posted Thu, 17 June 2004 at 6:29 AM

But... I dont understand... DAZ knows that we all the toon-character-eaters of the world are desesperately waiting for The G.I.R.L. ... and... another toonish character?? DAZ IS EVIL!!!!

I want a toon Babe with nice legs, these here are wayyyyyyyyyy too long imho

Cyhiraeth posted Thu, 17 June 2004 at 10:02 AM

Her body kind of reminds me of a Barbie doll or other 11-1/2 inch fashion doll.

always leave 'em wanting more..;)

She is interesting, but why would I want another toon girl when I have Koshini & Krystal and know that GIRL is on the horizon - although the horizon is getting further away by the day - what happened to May?

-Yggdrasil- posted Thu, 17 June 2004 at 4:44 PM

The Toon People are nice. I prefer the Anime people myself. The clothes look really nice, though.

Casette posted Thu, 17 June 2004 at 11:33 PM

Well, I have downloaded Stacy and tested her. Nothing new under the sun. The hair fit works bad. Her swimsuit is fixed to the body, its impossible to do a nude pic with her... but isnt very interesting, really is a Barbie doll clone. I dont need the hi-res version; Sara, La-la-la, ToonGal or other toongirls that I have rendered have more capabilities than her. Shes cute, but no more

I NEED THE G.I.R.L.!!!!!!!

-Yggdrasil- posted Fri, 18 June 2004 at 5:04 AM

Remember that this is the no-frills Low Res version also. The one you buy has much more capabilities. Why they put out the low res one I don't really know, since it does absolutely nothing to help the girl...

AntoniaTiger posted Sat, 19 June 2004 at 4:08 AM

If they've done the Low Res version right, it will let people do some fiddling around, see how it looks, and even make up a few freebie add-ons -- hair, smartprops, maybe even clothing.

-Yggdrasil- posted Sat, 19 June 2004 at 7:44 AM

I would put the LR (Low Res version) at about the quality of a Poser 2, maybe Poser 3, level of detail. "With polys so low, it'll blow you away-ay-ay-ay!!!" Nothing more than super-basic expressions to play with (amile, blink).

AntoniaTiger posted Sat, 19 June 2004 at 9:27 AM

Based on polygon count, I'd put the Lo Res at Poser 3 level

AntoniaTiger posted Sat, 19 June 2004 at 3:16 PM

What can you get from Lo Res Staci? I've learnt something about using UVMapper to change the UV mapping of a figure....

-Yggdrasil- posted Sun, 20 June 2004 at 6:46 AM

Check out reply #7 with the big promo image and the link. I've already tried out UVMapping her and rebuilding her mesh.

AntoniaTiger posted Sun, 20 June 2004 at 10:17 AM

Yes, I gather that the full, paid-for, version has a usable UVmap. As a learning process, disentagling the UP map for the free version was worthwhile. And the Lo-Res is a nice figure. I could see it being usable in some of the areas Poser Artist is aimed at, a sort of virtual Barbie. So when are we going to get a Ken :) (I don't think that's an entirely silly concept...)

AntoniaTiger posted Sun, 20 June 2004 at 12:58 PM

Just to show a rough idea of what my UVmapping exercise can do. (The background was posted to the Photography Forum recently...)

And why do they always have to be blondes anyway?

I'm reluctant to pass on my re-mapped figure, even in a form which depends on the original mesh. As a freebie, it's advertising the paid-for version, and the UVmapping would turn it into competition.
