I'm going to have to check with Chris, this is more complex than I thought it would be, though most of the elements of the construction set will work, there would have to be a few more pieces made. I've attached a link to double check.... you're referring to something similar to the Chichen Itza ballcourt?

The one at Chichen Itza isn't very typical. Most of them are a lot smaller (I visited a lot of them when I was in Mexico). Try looking at the one at Palenque (http://www.downtheroad.org/Photo/8TabChiapas/4Palanque2.htm) or the one at Monte Alban. If you can get a photo with people in to show scale, you'll see they're quite small in comparison with that huge thing at Chichen Itza.

I've been playing around with all the bits, including those from volume three, and can't really put together a convincing ball court prefab from what we have so far. Several extra elements would have to be made. There's such a massive choice of Meso-American architecture that its difficult to decide what to include in a set. I was hoping to make some of the arches, sometime in the future and could perhaps include the ball court pieces as well. As this would involve quite a considerable amount of work, I'm afraid it rather depends on the response to what we have done so far.

Part of the problem may be that there isn't much around in the way of clothing for Precolombian cultures. There's not much in the way of utensils, weapons, tools etc either.

That and there hasn't been a movie released lately involving the Mayans. :)) We're working on filling some of the holes in clothing and weapons.

Yes, I was thinking of the simpler form as in Ajax's link - the stereotypical picture I had was of the two solid platform with steep-then-shallow sloping sides and the target. I certainly intend to do my bit for the sales figures on the new pack and its successor :).

Props and Clothing items are on their way soon :) And most will be real deals ;)

Wow! This looks fabulous! I have been seeing where folks have been looking for items with an Aztec/Inca/Maya flavor and this should fit the bill nicely.

Judith, muchos kudos on the new set. I like it even better than the first one, and enjoyed making a spectacular set in Vue this weekend using parts from both sets. Can't wait for #3!

There is an IMAX movie about the Maya but it's atrocious. Don't waste your money. :-)

There was talk a few years ago about a big epic (featuring Salma Hayek as "La Malinche") being made about the conquest of the Azteca, but it apparently never went to production. If anyone would like to learn more about the Aztecs and the Conquest, I'd suggest "Conquest" by Hugh Thomas, "Conquest of New Spain" by Fra. Bernardo Diaz del Castillo (an eyewitness,) and "The Broken Spears," which is a collection of accounts from the Aztec perspective. The book by Thomas is spectacular, and paints a good portrait of the empire's amazing achievements and fascinating culture.

That's very nice of you Judith, but it might be awhile before I can upload a finished render. In the meantime, here's a test thingy I did over the weekend.

That's going to be exquisite! Is there any way to reinforce the jaguar heads as a motif? I seem to recall bas reliefs (front face) which might work at the tops of the columns. I like the sensation of humidity... even the the sky is blue it looks oppressively heavy. Carolly
