Hi I havent got these particular wings but with some others I use you have to move them in place manualy and then parent them to the chest. Maybe its the same with these
Aeneas posted Tue, 22 June 2004 at 5:32 AM
Yes, it probably is. But over at Daz, on the Night Wings page, it is staed they work with V3, M3, SP and he Freak, and that, quote: "Wings load perfectly scaled and placed, simply parent them to the CHEST of your figure." This looks ike misleading info to me. So I complained on the Daz forum. Unfortunately, this is the second time (after the seams between head and body of the freaks reptile texture) that something isn't like it should over there. A third time, and they can forget about that PC membership.

I'm not familiar with these wings, but I'm thinking that if there was a statement that wings load perfectly scaled and placed, that there might be additional Pose files somewhere for them - OR, that there might be morph dials to make them fit other characters. Have you checked in other libraries, such as the Pose library, to see if there are additional poses for other characters?

Daz readme: "Thank you for purchasing the Night Wings. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In "Darkworld Characters" of your Figures library and "Darkworld Nightwings" of your Pose Library you will find new icons for loading the product. Required Products: (any of the following) Michael 3, Victoria 3, Stephanie 3, Freak. For a complete product listing you can view the text file: NightwingsLIST.txt This product uses MAT Pose files for changing the Material Settings. In all cases, "P4" will refer to Poser 4 and "PP" will refer to Pro Pak. Poser 4 users may need to convert several bump maps from .jpg files to use the P4 files properly. Please see http://www.daz3d.com/pages/faq/techtipsmain.html for more information on Your Poses library and MAT files. See this site for further technical support questions or concerns: www.daz3d.com/support Thank you and enjoy your new products! " And that seems to be it. I extratced the exe to my desktop to be shre I missed nothing. Seems I didn't. Nothing but this Daz readme in th exe. It is about time I start checking my other purchases as my confidence in them is now below zero. They say that each brokered item is checked before approval, but then how come that the first two I try are not ok? Coincidence?

Well, that is a short readme. Mine always end up being longer then I prefer, but I always think of tips n tricks that are worth including. You do mention a number of things that imply you are a beginner, so it also might be inexperience. They always include a file list as wel... can you post that? We might see something you've missed.

Im not sure what is going on but I have these wings and they always load fine for me. You might try dropping V3 to the floor. Just select V3 and hit CTRL-D. That might help...not sure what else could be the issue since I do not have a problem :) Hope that helps a lil. Gina

I tried that. I unchecked IK, I even set the Joint Param to zero for her, I set everything to default. See: these wings are great, and of good design. Look really top, but when you see from top, you see something is wrong. I uninstalled and reinstalled. No difference. So I wonder what is going on.

Once you load the wings in, have you tried to conform them to V3?

Hmmm ... The web site says that it comes with instructions. Is it possible that there are instructions that are separate from the readme? (Edit) Ack .. never mind, I see you mentioned that there is only the readme file. Hmmm .... not sure what is going on.

Aeneas your post scared me because I bought Night Wings several weeks ago, but haven't used them yet. I just now tried loading the prop with V3. I see what you're talking about, although for some reason it looks more extreme in your screenshots than it did for me. No big deal, this can be dealt with easily. These wings work like most wing props. They're not smart props ... they won't automatically fit or conform to any of the Millennium Characters. They can be used with any character ... Posette, the Millennium Dog, the DAZ Gremlin, it doesn't matter. Select the wings, select "body." Move the entire prop slightly forward on the z-tran until the that bone part of the wing does contact Victoria's back, or even goes into it a bit. When I did this, the two wings appeared symmetrically aligned from various angles. Then parent the "body" of the wings to the "chest" of your character. Don't conform! After that everything should be okay. Becase the prop isn't "smart" and is intended to work with various characters, I don't think it will appear to fit any of them merely by loading the thing. You need to move the wings into place, then parent to the chest. This is how almost all wing props I've ever seen work. I honestly don't think there's anything wrong with this product, except that as with almost all DAZ products, the ReadMe should have been more thorough and helpful. If you truly feel that the prop is flawed, I'd suggest calling DAZ to ask for tech support or a refund. They'll definitely work with you. I like these wings very much because they're so stylish. Good luck Aeneas!

Thanks. As said: me too, I find these wings very stylish, and exactly what I need. Darkworld told me that they should fit V3 without adjustments. Ahh, even if I have to make some adjustment there would be no problem. It is annoying that the page at Daz suggests nothing has to be done. And it is not ok that both wings react differently on the chest_obj that comes with the wings. See: if the right wing is in place by moving it a tad forward, the left one is still hanging loose. And pushing both so far foward that the left one also attaches is hiding the problem. This must be easy to correct as one of the wings, the right one, is ok. If we were talking C4D, I'd say that a weightmap has to be adjusted. In Poser it'll probably be some joint setting. By the end of the year, I'll be doing this myself. But as for now I would love to see the artist take care of this. I also got his fantasy hair and his Cyber V2, and I'm convinced he's already taking care of it.

There is a fault with this figure as supplied, but it's very easily correctable. If you look at the body part Rwshldr (this is on the right side, the correct one) then you see a parameter called 'Winglet' is set to 0.750. On the opposite side, the body part Lwshldr, the Winglet parameter is set, when it comes from DAZ, to 0.392 (at least it was on mine, with a brand-new install). If you make this the same as Rwshldr, everything is fine. Just an error on the part of the vendor, I guess.

Hm, if there's an error, the vendor really should correct it and offer an update. I need to work with it some more. Thanks to Aeneas and spedler for the heads-up and help.

Good to see someone figured out what was wrong. maybe someone could also post that in the Daz thread, so they know, and can address the issue?

Spedler, you found the cause!!! Taking momentum from your finding, I changed the maximum setting to 1, then set both winglet params to 1, and changed the YTran of the body of the Nightwings to .405. Thisway the fit V3 perfectly! Thanks. I PM'd Darkworld that you found the solution, and took the liberty to add my "embellishments" without taking your credit! I'll post this at Daz. With your name as the one who found the solution. E.

Thanks. I'll make the same changes. These are good wings but I hadn't really tried them out much - your post encouraged me to do so!
