Hmm the Bryce engine under the Studio's hood is an interesting thought. No more need to rely on 3D-delight.

Maybe D|S terribly needs a render engine, and Bryce came in handy? When I tried D|S, I found it difficult to handle, and the resulting render was in very poor quality.

If DAZ won't support Poser (especially P5) in the future, it maybe mean for them that they loose a lot of their customers, if not the most. Aren't we Poser people, those who spend lots and lots of money just for the fun of it? Nothing against Bryce. It deserves further development.

randym77 my point was not about buying or not buying bryce. My point was that poser should be included at least as a plugin if bryce is to appeal to poser users. BTW Bryce 5 is not free at daz :) I actually have bryce 5. I would use it a lot more if poser animations could be easily loaded into it like you can with vue desprit and mover.

There is something wrong with your millenium boulder picture. Did you get the update for it? :))

BekaVal ( ) posted Wed, 23 June 2004 at 2:20 PM

"There is something wrong with your millenium boulder picture. Did you get the update for it? :)) " Well, this is the fully posable free version. But you can buy plug-ins to have more functionalities. The plug-ins are spawned into different packs to meet all the different customer's demands. :)

I am waiting for millenium boulder 3 petite...

randym77 ( ) posted Wed, 23 June 2004 at 2:28 PM

Does anyone know what the price will be? It's not listed on the DAZ|Bryce page, and Steve didn't answer when asked.

Even if DAZ intends to support Poser, I have to wonder if they'll be able to. As Dan Farr pointed out, they are a small company with 25 employees. And D|S is clearly going to be their first priority.

" I clicked on order now available today! and it said no such item" It should be up today. I imagine they're a little busy today, give 'em a little time. :) Coldrake

available, price... I think, it will be out tomorrow. There was a confidence mode on hint in their newsletter from today, that the news will come out as early as tomorrow confidence mode off

The Bryce gallery isn't set up yet too.

A good choice, Xantor! The millenium petite 3 series is the most fabulous line of products - I completely fell in love with that little guy - can't stop cuddling rendering him! :)

They've announced that they're working on a plugin that will allow you to import Poser and D|S scenes into Bryce. It will be $30...$1.99 for PC members. And Bryce itself will keep its current pricing. But there will be the usual introductory discount and PC discount, so PC members can get it for about $40.

randym77 ( ) posted Wed, 23 June 2004 at 4:38 PM

Just to be clear...the new plugin doesn't allow direct import of Poser scenes. You have to import them to D|S first. But they say if CL wants to do a Poser plugin for Bryce, they'll help.

xantor ( ) posted Wed, 23 June 2004 at 11:20 PM

The plugin doesn`t do animations, so download grouper for free and use poser wavefront objects in bryce for free you might have to actually set some textures by hand - but apart from that this method has no restrictions (and the price is right!)

randym77 ( ) posted Thu, 24 June 2004 at 9:18 AM

You have a point. I have to say, I find the idea of charging for a plugin that only works with a piece of software that's still in beta-testing a bit odd. Okay, it's not so bad for PC members, or people who buy Bryce from DAZ (and will get the plugin free). But if I were a long-time Bryce user who wasn't a PC member, I don't know that I'd jump at this plugin.

xantor ( ) posted Thu, 24 June 2004 at 3:22 PM

According to daz the plugin doesn`t actually work with the version of daz studio that you have now, but I assume that they will put the newer version out very soon.

" According to daz the plugin doesn`t actually work with the version of daz studio that you have now, but I assume that they will put the newer version out very soon." It's out, it was just mis-labeled. :) Just follow the link on the DAZ homepage. Coldrake

yes coldrake I saw that a few hours after writing that message, I downloaded it to see if the things that they say they have fixed have actually been fixed. But I wont be buying the bryce plugin.
