THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Im back, but I didnt go anywhere....

woodhurst ( ) posted Wed, 23 June 2004 at 11:18 AM · edited Fri, 15 November 2024 at 8:07 PM

It seems like I havent done anything productive in the last month Renderosity or Bryce related, but I went through a serious block after my last image and kind of got distracted after that(new computer!). But I come back to see the great news about Bryce and Daz, and also the sad news about Don. Im going to miss his posts--and Ive enjoyed alot of the farewell posts in the gallery. but, I finally built my computer! After I ordered the parts I had a conversation with Flak about his computer specs, and now I feel like im cheating every time I render. (this man works with a minimal amount, and well, look at siege!!) *kudos But--I've been toying with that for the past few weeks, sadly by toying I mean playing massive amounts of video games, but I think i will be able to do a little bit more now with Bryce and Wings. Some other news, Daz offered to buy a couple of my products from me (Ruins of Ashbane, The Dark Union) But I'm kind of hesitant for a few reasons, mainly because they would then own the product fully, and also because I dont know what kind of price to ask. any advice would be appreciated.....just thought I would throw that in. Just wanted to give a couple of updates for those of you who care and say Hi to everyone, and sorry that I've missed so much! (im gonna try to get through those ebots and check out all the pics Ive missed.) have a nice day everyone. Jordan

hey, welcome back. I don't know if it will make much difference with Wings, I use it on 2 machines; 1 with 320 meg, and 1 with 512, and once you get past a meg-sized model, it's starts to get 'jerky'..;) but I sill recommend it..look forward to your stuff..

I was just wondering where you had gone off to,lol! I was re-reading the January '04 issue of cineFex and it made me think of you 'cause it's chock-ful of great behind-the-scenes info, tech information and photos from "The Return of the King". Have you checked-out this mag before? As far as the DAZ acquisition of Bryce, I'm excited and am keeping an open mind. I don't have any experience as a merchant and I don't know what would be a fair-market price for models of your high-caliber. If I were you, I would IM, or email some of the artists who already offer content through DAZ. They could give you an idea of what to expect. Keep on Brycin', Dan

Hi Jordan, good to see you back! J.

Hello there, just don't go wandering off again without telling us. lol 8)

I personally think it would be a good move for you to go with DAZ, they want new Bryce content and if they are interested in your models I reckon they will be interested in any new models you make too.
Also if you're selling at DAZ you will have a much larger audience for your models and a more regular income.
Think about it carefully, but I wouldn't pass up on it if it was me. 8)

You should go over and look through the Premier shop at DAZ to see what prices are usually charged for these kind of models. I'm thinking here about folk like the Hankster and Stonemason who both make excellent structures/buildings.

...and now the important question! - What games?

Pass no temptation lightly by, for one never knows when it may pass again!

Danamo: strange you ask because I picked up that issue a few months ago and LOVED IT, I still flip through it almost weekly. (i also love the layout of the mag, i want to get a subscription.) Catlin: When they first asked me, I had the same idea as you--larger market....more income....but, soon i found out they arent offering me to sell through them, they are offering to buy the models from me, so i would not be getting income from the sales just a 1 time payment. thanks for the advice anyways:)) Incarnadine: heh, glad you asked:) I borrowed Far Cry from a friend, and am absolutley amazed at the gfx, stunning--the gameplay is cool and all but visually the game is a work of art. Also a little bit of BF: vietnam and UT 2004. Im really happy that I can now run up to date games! and also, for anyone interested here are my specs: AMD 2600 XP, 2.0ghz GeForce FX 5200 -256mb 512 pc2700 (soon to be a gig!) 80 gig HDD ASUS nvidia motherboard

Alright Jordan! Sounds like a killer render/modeling box.

Gog ( ) posted Thu, 24 June 2004 at 5:13 PM

I promise you'll notice the extra RAM when you add it, of course I expect to see those 'Woodhurst has posted a new image' message come more frequently now that you can render faster:)

Toolset: Blender, GIMP, Indigo Render, LuxRender, TopMod, Knotplot, Ivy Gen, Plant Studio.

I second that Gog, with a better computer and more ram to play with I think we all expect even greater things from you Jordan, so don't let us down. Get posting your wonderful work asap. 8) BTW I'm not very knowledgable on what DAZ's prices are like when they buy models outright but I think it would be of benefit to you to get in touch with Dodger who has sold items and had brokered work at DAZ. He has taken some of his models over to PoserPro's and had a bit of a falling out with DAZ so he may be able to put you straight on a few things. It would be worth talking to him anyway I think. 8) Catlin

Cool! (games wise that is) I am orbiting between UT2k3 and Infiltration 2.9 (UT2K total mod).
