But what you show is already a bitmap(jpg). Just convert it to a bmp.

I think what he's saying is that he wants a dem file of mt. kilimanjaro, the one he's displaying is just an example of the file he's looking for. I haven't yet found a good source for international DEM files yet, but if I find one I'll post it here.

Hi guys. I do a lot og GIS work, and to my knowledge there is no 30 or 90 meter DEM of Mt. Kilimajaro in the public domain. At least no set of DEMs of the area with high enough resolution suitable for this purpose. I checked with the Japanese and American private vendors as well, but did not see one. You might try some web searches using "GIS" as the keyword - as I did not do an extensive web search. Be advised that DEM's are created according to the photography paths of satellites, and it is rare to get a whole landscape feature in a single DEM. You often need to patch them together, and this takes a little work. Usually, some specialized GIS software as well, although the "Leveler" program can do a reasonable job.

I've been using a freebie program called 3DEM to patch together multiple DEM's and then save out the area I need, it works really well. I know it recognizes North American coordinates but I'm not sure about international at all. I'll have to try it if I find some international data to work with.
