Last night, I pulled together an image using all freebies, except for Victoria. I kept everything simple and quick. I used a Schlabber pose without modifying it, the Beata Victoria character, without changing the default expression, a bunch of RDNA freebies (I didn't intend for it to be so much, but they really have put out a great variety of high quality free items), and a couple Toucan 3ds imported flowers. There's less than a half hour to laying out the image, resizing the plants, lowering the Infinity Plane so that the sky was visible, increasing the collar size of the dress to get rid of pokethru, and rotating lights and objects till I had a pleasing effect. The whole thing still took about three hours, trying to figure out what I would do because I went into this without any direction other than to keep it short and sweet. Most of the time went into looking through Poser libraries and files to find everything I wanted in the image. I know it only took about half an hour to put the image together because I committed the cardinal sin of rendering without saving first (need to remember to always SAVE, SAVE, SAVE when using Poser) and Firefly locked up and I had to CTRL-ALT-DEL to shut down Poser and start from scratch. I was happy that I didn't put a lot of time into the image because I had to reload and resize everything to get back to what I wanted. For somebody who is new to Poser, I've provided links to all the items and verified that the sites are still active (though I didn't check to see that all the RDNA items are still on the site, but I believe they are). Outside of Victoria, everything in the image is free. Much as I didn't want to use any bought items, things have gotten to a point where, if anybody wants to make full use of Poser and what is available freely through the Poser communities, Victoria and Michael have to be bought from DAZ. I've got lots of old P4 clothing, that I've downloaded over the years, but most of the sites that gave them away are gone now. I didn't feel like spending much of the night trying to find out which ones are still active. Like it or not, the DAZ Millennium figures are the current standards for Poser figures. Mayadoll is a good free alternative and has fairly decent level of support, but it's still a fraction of what's available for the DAZ mainstays. I won't do this type of exercise often, but it was a challenge to do something using minimal time and effort with Poser and still have it come out nice. The point is that it doesn't take a fortune or forever to create a good image. It's not a perfect image, but it's not bad for what it is. I don't know if anybody else will try this, but it's funny how it can be a more difficult thing than would be expected to forego everything's that been bought and to use an existing pose for the final image. Every now and then, it's fun to push one's creativity by imposing limitations. Left to my own devices, I would not have created this image. My visual indexes of Poser
