When I purchased Vue it was the ability to easily import poser content that decided the issue for me, but now Bryce is going for about a third of the cost at Daz, with an option for a free content importer plugin.
I must admit I am tempted, true there is no animation import yet, but thats a matter of time.
First Daz Studio fires over Curious Labs bow, now they look as if there gunning for Vue as well?
I guess this will be good in the end, the competion should make things interesting at the least.
Any thoughts?

Well, DAZ would have to make substantial improvements to Bryce for me to go back to it. I still have Bryce 4 and 5, and the render times in Bryce 5 are terrible, imvho. Additionally, Vue and Vue Pro let you import directly from Poser, whereas with DAZ, you need Bryce + the plugin + DAZ Studio to get from Poser to Bryce (unless you do the obj import). I'm pretty happy with Vue and Vue Pro, and still use Poser 4 (have P5 but never installed it); can't see this new acquisition changing my personal future, as DAZ advertised it! 8o)

We will see what will happen. #1 The more import filters are involved the more can go wrong. Here you have to import Poser stuff into DAZ Studio first and that then into Bryce. We all know how difficult that is already with one filter, how will it be with two? #2 Their biggest market are the Poser people. So they can't really offer too much DAZ Studio native stuff really. Or introduce that only very slowly. Which means we all have to live with this situation for years i guess. And where is Vue in some years? Anyway, it is always good if there is competition. Bryce GUI is very hard to use, time of rendering is worst than Vue... for me Vue pro win the competition.

I'm with rodluc2001 on that one, I started in Vue 3.1 and got Bryce just to try it out and man that interface is screwy, I really tried to give it a shot but in the end it was just too frustrating to deal with so I continued on with Vue. Maybe Daz will do something great with it, but if they want to support the Bryce fans out there they can't really dink around with the interface too much, and Vue has that time to add new features to their program as well.

Tried Bryce again recently but found it does not stand up to Vue at all.

The difference between Vue and Bryce is like the maijor league and the minors. Vue is Maijor league all the way. I did not like Bryce at all and I have both versions 4 and 5. I just wish that Vue would add a plant editor to version 4.22, then those of us who have no intention of going Pro. would have that added option.

Deevee...I thought I'd never go Pro either...I can do plants to MY satisfaction without the editor. I have Xfrog & buy alot of stuffs from RDNA. However...I've seen some recent renders of interior scenes that have changed my mind, they are as of equal quality as 3ds Max renders :O(once finances allows). In Pro you can actually assign lights to objects & various other lighting enhancements. I had no idea Pro could do these things. From all the advertisements...I was under the impression that Pro was specifically for more advanced animations(which I have no interest in) and the Plant editor.

Thank you! I will download the trial version and see how it plays. Question, I read where save, size of image, export, and a few other things are disabled in the demo version, yet I see quite a few images in the gallery that claim they were done using the demo version , am I missing something?

I I'md him and he gave a list of what Pro did as far as lighting & various other things...Simply amazing IMHO...

Belgareth..apparnetly has a series going...he did a hallway as well...simply outstanding...the lighting features alone make this future upgrade a welcome:) I haven't dnld the demo...as I 'd be to depresseed that I can't get it straight away LOL...SO I can't answer if you are missing something.....;)

If you want to pick up Bryce 5 for $60...maybe not a bad idea, imho. I assume there will be a price break in an upgrade to Bryce 6. DAZ has already (apparently) figured out how to speed up Bryce's rendering engine a good amount. Yeah, direct importing of Poser/DAZ Studio scenes are most likely coming in Bryce 6. (but, remember, all this will be some months away) I don't really compare programs anymore, to me it's all in the user. And, both Bryce and Vue users produce some amazing stuff. Vue 4 and especially Vue 4 Pro are quite impressive, yet for me it comes down to ease and speed of my worklow. (which, for me is best in Bryce) Bryce has just had the disability of not having a company that has been able to keep updating it/improving it. (in the past) Vue has been taken care of VERY well, and relects that in its abilities. Comparisons aside, I think Bryce and Vue (and Terragen, and MojoWorld), will always be unique enough each to keep growing alongside each other, no problem. ;o) AgentSmith
