Ever since I've upgraded to the latest Poser 5 patch, any of the NEW scenes I create, I cannot change the background color. The older PZ3 files are fine. Anybody else experiencing this problem?

Have you checked if this is the same problem. Duplicate nodes in the background shader.?

I think SR4 does that to some people .. I know someone said it did that to people on a Mac .. There is some kind of bizarre workaround suppossedly but it is annoying ... There is a post about it at Animotions.

You have to delete all the nodes in the material editor for the background, even the unattached ones, then it works ok.

Read the SR4 readme, it explains the whole thing. You now, there's a reason why they call that file "readme".

A lot of people don`t even read the manual, never mind the readme. Then they say "I want to add trousers to a figure but when I get the trousers in the scene the figure disappears...".

Ahhh, but, then again, some people do. Then they read it again, because they sorta didn't get that little part between the cover and the appendices. Readme's are just ignored entirely. I mean, they dn't actually contain useful information, right? (Actually, it's been my experience that the readme's are written better than the manual....)

I agree on that, Ynsaen, but SR4 definitely has some new bugs in the handling of shader trees. It may be multiple nodes in the wrong place, it may be glitches in how filenames for image files are stored. I was having fromblems with texturemaps. The CorrectReference program seemed to fix things.

SR4 Readme: it used to be an easy one click process to change your background color but now we have made it a multi-click process because users enjoy watching that little clock while Poser opens the material room. SR4 readme addendum: and now your background pictures might fit in your renders and then they might not.

xantor posted Wed, 30 June 2004 at 6:41 PM

The background pictures can fit the background if you want, the same as poser 4 and propack, the material room is extra but the new texturing available is well worth a couple of seconds wait IMO. AntoniaTiger, correct reference doesn`t change the way poser works, if it fixed your problem then something was in the wrong place.
