Hey- Well, finally got most of my computer problems solved, so I can get back to work, sorry I haven't been keeping up lately. Having bought Vicky 3 awhile back, and mostly not used her yet, I thought I'd start off with a project for her, digitigrade legs. Eventually, I'll recreate most of my p4 stuff for V3. These are quite the work in progress, and are based loosely on a sketch Bill Redfern sent me. Any crits and comments welcome. Regards- Lemurtek

I can definitely see Bill's style influencing the design. Ankles look a bit small to support someone of Victoria's size, but I'll reserve judgement until later in the development cycle.

Looks like my reputation precedes me! In case anyone cares, here's the image Lemurtek mentions. Very promising, Lemur'! As LD stated, please keep us informed of your progress. TalonGE is also embarking upon a similar project to create V3 werewolves, but his approach is different. He is using the method Traveler used for his "Monster Parts" package. If I understand correctly, it will function like a conforming piece of clothing with all Victoria body parts turned "invisible" from the hips down. He displayed modeling shots in the "Members Only" forum at DAZ, but I haven't seen any updates since May 30th. Too bad, his was an intriguing approach as well. Again, keep us updated. This is fascinating! Sincerely, Bill

Would it be possible to shorten the length of her thigh to help get similar proportions to the sketch? Or would shortening the thigh mess up the joint parameters too much?

tonymouse posted Mon, 05 July 2004 at 6:22 AM

Lemurtek, Do you think you will also be converting ? recreating your male stuff to either or any of the male third gens ( m3, Freak or D3) ? Tony

Little_Dragon posted Mon, 05 July 2004 at 6:23 AM

The joint parameters will have to be modified anyway.

Heh. You do realize that most Poser users, and even a majority of furries, don't know what "digitigrade" means, right? I've talked with several people who don't even get the translation "toe-walker." I guess they haven't studied a cat's paws close enough. Nice work on this so far. The only thing that standa out is that the "real" knee isn't bent far enough in your screen shot to put the toe under the center of gravity. And you probably want to shorten the legs to pull back into classic proportions (50% leg, 50% torso).

Oh Ya!!! Fianally she gets REAL Feet!!! They are looking Great! Looks like a good start for even a decent pair of gargoyle feet too!!!!

nakamuram posted Mon, 05 July 2004 at 3:54 PM

Is anyone going to make shoes for the new feet? Some digitrade leg morphs for exisiting V3 shoes would also be nice.

Little_Dragon posted Mon, 05 July 2004 at 4:30 PM

I'll consider it. I've had a lot of practice at shoe-making for Furrette recently, and had once planned to build some footwear for Lemurtek's earlier figures.

On average, though, many digitigrades don't make use of footwear, beyond simple wraps.

Watching with interest (even if I don't have V3...)

LD: I'll definitely have to beef those up a little for Vicky. Bill's design is quite petite. Might try these on Sara though... I try to avoid messing with the thighs too much, the more body parts you change, the more incompatible with current clothes and such she becomes. I really need to pose her with thighs angled forward, as in Bill's sketch. I'll probably try several variations. Heck, forget knowing what digitigrade means, I'd be happy to be able to pronounce it without sounding like Porky Pig! :) I don't have any of the M3 variations, I do have poor old Micheal 1 though. The Base V3 figure is pretty much blank, you have to buy the extra packs for the other face and body morphs, which I don't have yet. I haven't decided how to do the head yet, since I don't have the mil cat or the facial morphs pack for v3, I might do my own custom look, if I'm up to it. Guess I'll worry about the legs first. And finally, about those shoes... :) Regards- Lemurtek

Aaaaargh! Stoopid mouse — I accidentally deleted that last post of mine! One design I've seen for digitigrade shoes that actually seems plausible is a sort of sandal. Just a small sole under the end of the paw that actually touches the ground, and a loop or two over the toes, especially if the toes are big. Some have another strap looping up around the ankle, some don't.

nakamuram posted Tue, 06 July 2004 at 9:59 PM

I think a spiked-heel platform would be very nice!!

Lemurtek posted Wed, 07 July 2004 at 1:59 AM

These are the boots I did for Lionheart's armor, basic just a shell to protect the top of his paws, whilst allowing him to use his claws. Sandals would be do-able I think. Spike heels might be do-able, but they'd look kind of different. Hmmm...

Little_Dragon posted Wed, 07 July 2004 at 5:52 PM

Twelve-inch spikes? Perhaps with integrated gyroscopic stabilizers?

I did make some boots and shoes for Florence (see above), but they're not detailed or particularly well-modeled, and I never tried to fit them to the other figures.

Just in case anyone is still watching this thread, I thought I'd post. It is way awesome that Lemurtek is still working on Anthro models :D And the legs look awesome, btw. As far as V3 goes, I think she is completely the wrong choice for that look. I would most definitely go with Sara -for her body shape is more compatable. Or even GIRL, because she has so many morphs that might still be able to be used. A custom head would be awesome - but a complicated task. I definitely would like to be kept informed as well. :)

Lemurtek posted Wed, 08 September 2004 at 2:25 AM

Thanks! It was a bit of a hunt, but I found where I had stashed Sara (don't have the Growl, er, Girl), so I may well do a version for her. Hmmm, so is the new Sara a whole new model, or what? I guess I'd have to do packages for both? Sigh. I guess I'll go for a fiercer look for the V3 version. Not sure my modeling skills are up to a completely custom from scratch head, but it would be a good excuse to really learn LW. I'll post a Sara w/ digitigrade legs pic shortly. Thanks again for the comments/suggestions! Regards- Lemurtek

My pleasure - I absolutely love your Second Nature models and use them quite a bit. The only real draw back for me is that they are based on the P4 figs. Sara, being one of my all time favorite models, is an excellent choice :) For what its worth, Sara v1 and Sara v2 both share the same body, only the head mesh was altered.
