I haven't visited for some time now, but recently when I wanted to download something from the "Freestuff" pages, I get a "username" and "password" required for Geocities. On most of the stuff this was a requirement! I tried my Rederocity membership info - no good. OK, so I became a member of Geocities, which is free - but I still can't download, as it apparently doesn't recognize that either. Can anyone help? Much appreciated!

I can't help you with Geocites. All the Free Stuff is hosted on other sites, like Geocities. Any requirement for download from their server will have to be discussed with the Free Stuff contributor or their hosting server. Renderosity has no control over the content that is hosted on third-party servers.

heyas; what download was it? sometimes that dialogue pops up, but it isn't supposed to. i forget what causes it. try to download the thing again, and if that doesn't work, email the uploader to ask what's up. :) (click on their name in the download area under their thumbnail, you can send them a message that way.)

This is an interesting point. We've avoided the hosting of the Free Stuff in the past because of bandwidth usage. Do you think people would be interested in paying a small amount monthly for a no-hassle place to store their files? Could be a premium membership kind of arrangement that would include file space. On some Geocities downloads... rightclicking and choosing the "save target as" will let you get around the download and file not found problems. This seems to work with a number of "download impaired" links as well.
