Has anyone made a ghillie suit for use in Poser (a conforming figure would be best). It just seems that with all these sniper rifles that Renderosity sells, a ghillie suit would be the ideal compliment :)

There are a few Military Items and uniforms for sale and for free and most leave more to be desired. but a "ghilie Suit"...Don't hold your breath (Do most people know what a "ghilie suit" is?)

Ask me a question, and I'll give you an answer.

Last time I saw one it was being worn by the Creature from the Black Lagoon's stunt double.

Yes I do know what one is but I thought I'd help the confusion :)

It would have to be very polygon-heavy to get all the little flapping pieces, shreds, etc.

To be honest, for the scale that the finished model would be (i.e. very small) I wouldn't need bits to flap in the wind - static is fine.

oh..it's a type of camoflage, consisting of long strips of fabric, and netting..you most often see it on snipers (the ones who let you live, that is..;). I dunno..I agree with PhilC, I tried putting hair on a dust puppy model, and almost brought me system to a halt..;)

I wish I'd said that.. The Staircase Wit

Actually PhilC's Caftan would almost work if it had a hood. Make a good net transmap the go over to RDNA and get the various 'Scatters ' and design your own, just like a sniper has to do. No two suits are identicle. Run on system resources should not be bad.

I must remember to remember what it was I had to remember.

I believe it could be lower poly and use a high res texture like DNA does with thier plant collection.

I think you could do it with what would be like multiple overlapping skirts, transmapped to form the strips. It's be a bit hard on the system if you used P5 dynamic cloth, but I don't think you'd ned to model every strip. UV maapping might be tricky. I think it would help to have lots of materials, which could use different colours, texturemaps, etc. I've not seen one close-to, but I think they often use a lot of scrim, which is a fairly fine mesh made of coarse fibre, sort of like a fishnet stocking made of coarse twine. Start off with one of Anthony Appleyard's figures in overalls, and then add smart-propped skirt-like objects to give the structure. In P5, displacement maps would be good. There's lots of ideas. Has anyone ever done camouflaged face texturemaps?

Havnt seen any camo face paint...but it would be cool. You dont see enough military oufits...hell Vicky has more than the guys do! I would love to see a combat ready set of BDU's for M2 and M3 or more modern combat gear.

If you have poser 5 you can make a fairly convincing suit with the hair. Select all of a piece of clothing like the body suit and add hair set the number of hairs to down around 200 or so then set the hair tip to about 8 and the root to about 4. In the material room change the material for the hair to a cammo texture. It even moves moderatly realistically if you use the dynamics.
