"Avaunt Garde" - from Old French: "avaunt" (before) and "garde" (to guard). (1)The foremost or leading position in an army advancing into battle. (2)Those occupying a foremost position. Have David see some real action in the front line! All that he requires is his trusty suit of armor, lots of courage, his banner and sword in hand. For the more dangerous sieges, a broad-rimmed "basinet" will protect his head and a small shield of Oriental craftsmanship for close combat. This set will prove to be ideal for a knight in your fantasy renders, from a wealthy young prince to a lowly, sword-for-hire mercenary knight. And for the history aficionados, he can be placed in any late Medieval/early Rennaisance setting - from the plains of Agincourt to Venetian Cyprus.
