Hi, I'm trying to animate a character in Carrara against an animated background (.avi) I created in Bryce. My problem is that I need to position the character relative to objects in the animation. But the animation does not appear in the storyboard. In fact the only way I can see what I've done is to render the animation. Is there a way to see the background in the Assembly Room?

Yikes, I dont think so. Sounds like a cool project! Anyone else have any ideas on this? I would love to see some or all of the animation when you get it done or have something to show. ;) Clint

I have the Carrara Bible and I looked through it to see if there was anything in it that might help you, but I couldn't find anything! Sorry.

I think the best thing to do is to make a time line of your animation and then just guess as to whats going on....do peridodic quick spot renders in the assembly room...and them composite it all together in a program like after effects...this will allow you to correct a lot of smaller errors that you will make. The problem is that you never see the avi texture w/o a render..so make use of that little camera icon in the assemble room....I know it sucks but thats all I was able to figure out :(

I may be wrong, but what if you have a plane with the avi on it instead? I don't have Carrara here at work, but I seem to remember actual TEXTURES rotoscoping as you move the slider bar, assuming, of course, that you are in view texture mode... I'll check when I get home. Hoborg
