I've seen some pretty amazing effects using light rays... How is this done? Long or short version will do. Thanks much. -Susan

It's in the light lab (the E in the menu next to the light) Set the light to be visible, volume and infinite. You will find that it increases your render times a lot. Some people (Rochr) for example put a lot of the light rays in post production. He did a nice tutorial a while back on it.

Also light ray mat in complex effects menu, applied to a cone. You may need to experiment with the ambience/transparency settings in the material lab. It also depends on what type of sky you go for. Like Phil says take a look at Rochr's website for his postwork tutorial.

Any chance somebody knows where Rochr's tut is? Or, if it has been too long, do you think he might post it again?

Thanks for all the great info on Light Rays... If you'd like to see my first attempt... see "Lu-Cheun's Oasis" posted today. A gazillion ways to do light rays I've discovered... played around with it for about 2 days... It's addicting. Thanks again. -Susan
