no the jeans and top are actualy second skins from Daz...the last image shows some of our products so no one would think that only skins work...this shal works over clothing quite well....I also used the jean skins to show the shawl can look great casual not just dressy...

Aww shucks, you are all so very welcome...I would love to see any renders any of you do using this little thing....We will also be working on a nice little dorm/night shirt for V3, something that is cute, sexy but yet covers enough to be comfortable to lounge around in...I also have some jewelry ideas.....anything else that you want to see in the store just let us know and we will see if we can make it and if there would be enough interest in it....and don't forget we have a big theme package coming up next month....so till the next contest...happy rendering... Very, very nice of you. I'm downloading it right now. It's very pretty indeed. It's not easy to make clothing items for Vicky that nobody else has yet, you did a terrific job!

Thank you - I thought shawl was a bit far from blouse when I received the IM. It will be fun to see how it goes in Poser 4.

This is great. I've been wanting a shawl for ever. Lovely.
TheMadPainter posted Wed, 28 July 2004 at 12:39 PM
Thanks soulhuntre, though there are two versions, one that works with p4, I think the p5 one gets the most use out of something like this and with the easy instructions to use it, it should help those that haven't ventured that far yet....dialyn, I seen a post in the wishing well for one and I always wanted one to, so I thought I best just make one if I want one...LOL...It should be released by the weekend...crosses fingers*...

@RHaseltine - let me know how the shawl does for you in P4. When TheMadPainter first came to me with the idea for the shawl, I thought about making it a conforming clothing figure. However, because of the way Poser works with body groups, it was hard to get the shawl to lay right. This lead to my next making morphs to adjust the lay. Which in turn lead to me thinking, hey, this might do better in the P5 cloth room. A few test sold me and I quickly realized that the shawl was beautifully suited as a dynamic clothing item. Very hard to get those results with just morphs alone. Nevertheless, I did not want to leave P4 users out in the cold all together, so I transfered the morphs I had made for the first version over to the dynamic cloth version, and tried it out as a smart prop clothing item in Poser 4. I found I was able to use the shawl with those morphs okay in Poser 4 for a decent range of poses. However, I also know that I am more familiar with using the morphs, since I made them. LOL I think they are pretty straight forward, but if you have any problems using the shawl in P4 let me know. :O) Rob

That render looks great! Thanks for the feedback on using the shawl with the dials. How are you liking D/S. I downloaded the beta demo a long time back but never had the chance to play with it. Does it have a cloth similator like P5? Also, how does lighting compare to Poser, what sort of lighting effects are possible?

Thanks. No cloth simulator, its materials system is somewhere between Poser 4 and Poser 5 (though I'm sure DAZ or someone will produce plugins for cloth and fancy material settings - and hair - if it's a reasonable success). It has point lights (yippee) but the behavious of lights is quite different from Poser's: fortunately the latest build provides for saving out selected scene elements, like lights, so we should see some prepared sets appearing (and they don't fight with already loaded lights the way those in Poser do). It's a lot faster and more functional than the first release - probably worth giving it another go now, or soon. (Pinch of salt warning - I'm a DAZ forum moderator.)

I appreciate the info on D/S. If I can find the time, I may give it a try. I like the lights not overwriting the ones already loaded (er, that is if I understand correctly). There are times when I wanted to use to different light sets I had made up in my Poser scene, and it is such a hassle to hack the the file for the lights so that I could combine the two sets and load them into my scene. :O)
