Just having a look at latest uploads ('cos of recent thread re. view-numbers, thumbnails etc.) and came across an image by Yoro with the most amazing trees. She mentioned OnyxTree, I did a google and my heart sank when I saw the price ($495) but as far as I can see you can buy the generator for one type (broadleaf, f'rinstance, which is the one I'd be interested in) for $195). Is it just me, or does it look fantastic?? Also, I've never noticed her (Yoro's) textures before in the Bryce marketplace, but her rock textures are pretty flippin' wonderful, to my eyes. Got the feeling that my credit card is about to be maxed out :o(

yeah, the trees are nice, so are the textures, although the scene in itself looks like it's got some really bad noise (too much of it rather).

I have OnyxTree and it does make amazing trees. I use the Treestorm function for animating trees in Electric Image Animation System. Right now I am using it for my demoreel. The trees are highly editable and as detailed as you want them to be- and yes the tool is expensive. If all you need are non animated realistic trees - I also sell a whole bundle of them for Bryce5 here at renderosity - both pines and broadleaves. Check out the b5TreeFarm in my store. Scott

Lets not forget Xfrog! If all you need is non-animated trees for importing into Bryce then Xfrog Lite does a great job. It's also a lot cheaper, running around 130 to 150 dollars. Here's a link to an example over on the Xfrog site in case you wanna take a peek. Also, you can buy tree and flower packs, which come in Xfrog format... which means you can open them up pre built, then tweak'em as much as you want.

drac - hafta admit I like the noise - it seems to make the scene very ethereal, adds lightness and atmosphere!

Xfrog is great - I have it too. But has a much more mathematical approach since it is based on L systems. In Onyx tree the sliders are labeled just like the parts of the tree and the UI is very straight-forward - and it also comes with killer trees. They are all good choices - but treepro comes closest to letting you build a real tree - and - it is the easiest to use.
