You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA

I'm allergic to cute, but that is a nice-looking effect!

I am usually allergic to cute, too, but I enjoy playing with the material room. Some people get massages. Others go to spas. Still others read or listen to music. I play with the Poser 5 material room to relax. :)

On more photorealitic textures, it works well for deepening the shadows a bit.

Modified Crescent's Toon Shaders
Plugging textures into the Toon node works with these as well as giving you an outline effect you may/may not want. To kill the outline, just eliminate the top "Edge Blend" node.

-Yggdrasil- what effect does the Blinn node have when plugged into the Alternate_Specular? Thanks!

The normal diffuse channel (the one at the top) should be set to zero.

Ah, yes that did it. Thanks! But I still don't understand why I have an Image_Map node and Kiera has a Color_Texture node. Where do you find the Color_Texture node? Was it named differently in a previous service release or something?
KarenJ posted Sun, 15 August 2004 at 4:55 PM
What seems to happen with the mat room is that when you first go into it, with a mat pose applied, the node connected to diffuse_color will be called "Color Texture". If you then remove that and add a new image map, it will be called just Image_Map. Add some more and you'll have Image_map_2, etc. You can also see this with trans maps. When you first enter the room, they're called, um, "Transparency_Map" I think, but again if you remove the original and add a new one, it'll become "Image_Map".

Yep, that's it. I had been bringing in an untextured model. Once I tried it with the puppy I got the Color_Texture too :) Well, I've only had P5 for just over two weeks so I'm still fumbling - thanks for the help everyone!
