Have gotten inspired to do a Janet Jackson with Miss G, as she already looks pretty close with the right dial tweaks, but wondering if anyone knows of good Janet Jackson type hair anywhere? (and also Tina Turner Hair).

This is just one of many styles she has worn, but this is somewhat typical of a style associated with her...

This is one from her FOXY younger days- probably her looks here are very close to what Kim G. was using as a reference when he was working on the original Miss G face concept...

Do you have P5? The Tina Turner look would be very easy to attain in the hair room. ;-)

RDNA's LaRoo, has a ton of hair styles. LaRoo's, Missy L texture actually looks like Mary J Blige. I also think you can get Beyonce from Girl. Do those three ladies and you can re-create the Vibe magazine cover.

Heh- I'm actually not up on all these babes- music or pop culture-wise, but definately find Janet Jackson very inspiring just based upon the photos I've seen. She can be both incredibly ugly and incredibly beautiful! I'm also struck how much Janet Jackson looks like a YOUNG Tina Turner. Tina looks like she could be Janet's mother! I've found Mariah Hair for Victoria and Posette by VAIRESH which I think might work as its in that style. Checking over at RDNA is a good idea and LaRoo's hair might be well worth looking into! I have P5, its just that I never use it. It still like the old point-and-shoot of Poser Pro-Pack. Fast, Fun and Easy compared to P5.

When Janet wants to look pretty- she really DOES!

How's THIS for retro-nostalgia? Sort of looks as if Janet had been a 60's MoTown star! (which she was in a way as part of the Jackson 5- but just a young kid then). I can see why Kim Goossens was TAKEN by her looks!

For the first pic you could use AprilYSH's spiral hair. (in the MP here) For the second one perhaps "Full and feathered"? and for the last one I'd suggest the latest Kozaburo hair with some postwork in the whisps. Yes I can see the resemblence, especially the nose. Very much like GIRL.

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA

Thanks for the suggestions ernyoka, I'll go check those out. When I first saw the face poses for GIRL the smile poses seemed to be a little "over the top", but actually they perfectly represent the HUGE smile Janet Jackson has- she's almost a TOON herself. Her great smile is probably what really helps make her look so pretty.

Just a quick question - why do you think goosens based Girl on Ms. Jackson? That isn't who he says he based her on at all?

Not trying to be argumentative, but you are the only person I've seen say that and I think it's interesting.

BTW looking from image 1 to image 2, has JJ had a nose job too? side note: JJ was never part of the Jackson 5 only her brothers were.

In the original Kim Goossens interview on the CG Channel (CGTalk) he speaks about working on an animated video called "The Raptoms" (a few years back- not sure how far back) and that it was a project based on creating a Janet Jackson animated music video. At that point he also met with some of the Jackson family according to his interview. Janet Jackson was apparently the original model concept, but "The GIRL" was an evolvement from that character, so she's not specifically meant to BE Janet Jackson, and neither he nor DAZ would want to market he that way for obvious copyright reasons. LaToya Jackson is the only other female Jackson that I am aware of. You are probably right about Janet Jackson not being in the original Jackson 5. I never really liked or followed that music trend myself- however I have always been a big fan of MoTown- especially the Supremes. Janet may have only been a baby, or not even born yet, when the Jackson 5 was around.

Here's the original "alpha" version of "The GIRL", done as a spec for the "Raptoms" project, which apparently was never actually completed.

Obviously Kim Goossens fell in love with the character and continued to evolve her further in Lightwave, with no clear plan for ever publishing her until the CG Channel images were shown.

Here's Goossen's other major artistic influence, according to the interview-

artist Dany (Daniel Henrotin) who specialised in cute pinup girl and cartoon drawings.

Yes, you gotta love Dany's work. Now if only they will make the Girl that kind of biker gear ;-)
