hi, a little provocation... if vue pro and Vue are two "different" line why vue pro have a version numbered 4.5 and not 1.0 ? all people that mistake with vue pro as a upgrade of vue d'esprit 4.0 are tricked from the number version... yours opinions ?

The version numbers are very confusing when it comes to which is which. One would assume at first glance that Vue 5 is the update to VuePro 4.5, as VuePro 4.5 was in many ways a possible upgrade path from Vue 4. I can understand why they didn't go with 1.0 though, as it was not a product that was from scratch, but one that contained all of Vue 4's core features with much added and wanted to portray that. It probably wasn't thought to be an issue, but now it will be very strange, added even more so when VuePro 5 comes out.

i can somehow agree with you but its to be honest the only logical way to name the different product lineups.
look @ it like this.
vue 4 dprit, generation 4, live version 4.2
vue 4 pro, generation 4, live version 4.5
vue 5 dprit, generation 5, live version 5.0 (@ launch)
vue 5 pro generation 5, live version 5.0 (@ launch)
the live version is just todays latest non beta vue release of that product lineup.
its just like macromedias flashmx 2004 lineup.
one regular and one pro, but both are still named flashmx 2004, just that one has the pro tag line, and both are upgraded to 7.2
lots of version number yep, thats for sure but its 2 different lineups and vue 5 dprit is the succesor to vue 4 dprit the number that indicates the version is just that lineups latest released stable version nothing else.
theres realy no way to number them differently. hard to call it vue 5.2 dprit and vue 1.0 pro , calling it vue 5.2 pro and vue 5.1 dprit is actually pretty logical since the pro version would sound pretty out of date otherwise + they are based on the same generation just with different features.

Humm,I think this Vue confusion is pure company marketing. It is all the same product under the hood with improvements. The problem for the company is how to extract the maximum ammount of money possible from the user base. So the spin doctors (marketing dept.) tell you V 4 Pro is not really v 4 when the code and menu itmes tell you it is v 4 with improvements. How many of you with both still use v 4??? Now will they go on with this silly charade and come up with V 5 pro on these two lines that really the same----I wonder? I wil purchase V 5 only if it does a lot of things I want in addition the V 4....

Well i could say that the names get you confused, but if they just made a little change at the name like "Vue desprit 4" and "Vue 4.5P" so the "P" would tell you that it is the professional edition and not the normal one. -Vlad

yeah Vlad this is clear, but why 4.5 ? is an evolution of 4.0 or the number version are fantasy number ? if is an evolution it seems an upgrade... well is only a steril tread... but for vue P would be 1.0 :)

Oh yes Luca you are right, since it is the first edition of the profesional line it sould be called "Vue 1.0P". Thanks for the observation Luca. -Vlad
