Dear Sixus1, I have no hard feeling about your quality as a merchant-artist but I really do not like the way you post your PRODUCT SHOWCASE PAGES. I really do not want to think that you do it on purpose but I really think the way you do it is not fair to the other merchants. You can make one HTML page and put all of your content in to it, what you do (Posting Attaches) is making a huge impact to the forum page and dropping other peoples threads out of the pages. Please keep this in mind. Best regards Umut B. Aydin (umutov) PS: This is nothing personal or about your quality (I think you are a great artist)
sixus1 posted Wed, 11 August 2004 at 2:43 AM
I rarely post in the Product Showcase forum. I don't see a problem with how I did this. Also, the forum is designed to for 25 topics per page...nothing to do with how many posts are in each topic. If I had wanted to do an HTML page, I could have quite easily. Also, I paid special attention to the sizes of my images/attachements and most of them are 200 x 200 tnails...so I somehow doubt that is having a huge effect on the forums. Maybe next time I should go into the Poser forum to list the freebies that go with our free human figure, but I thought that I would keep it in the Product Showcase forum so that no one would complain. I somehow doubt my post in the middle of the night of a Tuesday has cost anyone any sales. --Rebekah--

Dear Rebekah, I already said "No hard feelings" It's just that, the forum page looks really crowded like that. Anyways, I always get misunderstood when I open my mouth. lol . I hope you the best with your product my friend. Best regards, Umut B. Aydin (umutov)

No worries here, sorry if I came off a little too curt with you. Hey, good luck with your new character. BTW--where are you from? Your English good, but it seems a bit akwardly phrased. Merely curious. :) --Rebekah--

I personaly do not see anything wrong with this post. And I can't see how this is unfair to other merchants. My problem is only with the file kb size, I have a slow connection, but this post surely does not impede on my freedom to view other merchants' product in this forum.
Awesome collection of products Sixus.

I don't see anything wrong with the post either. Nice products. It is nice to see everything available right now for this character in one thread anyway, and I'm on cable so the images don't bother me. Anyone know where that gun in the "kickin ass for fashion" pic comes from?

hi Sixus, :) i always loved ur work, but i wanted to ask how long usually it takes to create ur own creatures? :D btw they look rad. :D I don't think there's anything wrong with the post neither. :P Btw i love H.E.R :D she rules. XOXOXOXOX Sera
sixus1 posted Thu, 12 August 2004 at 12:12 PM
Actually, the time it takes to do a creature really depends primarily on how hyped I am to be doing said creature. Modeling of a humanoid figure usually takes anywhere from one to three days, depending on my level of interest. Rigging it for Poser usually takes about 1-2 days to get the basic rigging in place, then about another day or so to work out all the basic morphs. It's also not entirely fair for me to say it takes a certain amount of time because Rebekah works like mad to help keep my cr2's as clean and useable as possible. Trust me, you all want to thank her for that because the pre-flight versions of figures that I use building up to a release are usually very functional but will often have a lot of unnecessary crap in there. :) Some creatures can take forever to build. I've been working, off and on, on a new dragon for months now. The mesh and uvs are complete, but the rigging is a nightmare because of the design of the wings. Conversely, there have a been a couple of our monsters which some folks thought should have taken a lot of time that actually were completed, start to finish, in a matter of 2-4 days. It just varies so much that it's hard to pin any of it down. Regarding textures, "normal" human textures aren't what I'm usually interested in doing, though it's sort of a "have-to" kind of thing that I do them for our figures. I'm more interested painting textures that incorporate some kind of design work or which alter the character drastically (I love horror/sci fi and comics which explains a LOt!). Typically, a texture for one of our figures that I'm really excited to work on will probably take about 4-8 hours to complete. "Normal" looking textures usually take from 6-12 hours because I'll dawdle them to death; I really don't enjoy those at all because they just don't hold my attention as well as the crazier stuff. It's not unheard of for me to finish a texture in under 2 hours, or to spend more than 20 hours total either. I also use photo sources sparingly if ever which can increase the paint times dramatically; I prefer to use a lot of traditional painting techniques to get the results I want without resorting to photos because I don't like the way the lighting in the sources of "photo textures" can interact with rendered lighting. I guess to say "texturing takes X amount of time" isnt really quite right; it varies from piece to piece and I never really know quite how long something is going to take, although what I've mentioned above is a good rule of thumb. I hope that all made sense. Thanks for being interested enough to ask. ;) -Les

hi honey, hey np :D do u model in 3d studio max? if so will u do a tutorial any time soon? :D by the way keep them comming. :D Sera
sixus1 posted Thu, 12 August 2004 at 1:12 PM
Actually, I used to model in Max a lot, but these days I am pretty much using Maya most of the time. I am planning on releasing some video tutorials in conjunction with the material I'll be covering in the seminars at Dragon Con, though if Max were covered in any way, it would probably be dated as I haven't upgraded since version 4, when I switched to Maya.

Hmmmm.....maybe you could post an image of what exactly you are finding that is stretching beyond what one normally runs into with the limitations of Poser. --Rebekah--
