I am against the idea that the majority rules so we can all vote Socrates should drink the hemlock. That being said I think people are getting entirely too bent out of shape by whos in the hot 20. Every person only has one vote. The administrators can easily identify clone votes because they come from the same I.P. address. Just accept the fact that a picture you didnt like got more votes than one you did like. So you can bitch about it or you can suck it up and learn how to vote yourself. Heres how: You can vote for any image once every five days. If you browse the current gallery or the subgroups like Bryce you will see the past 15 days of images. Currently this is a total of 8730 images in all groups. You can click on these individually and vote for each one. I like to vote for everything I remotely like assuming that if everyone does the best will overlap and rise to the top. If you find an artist you like (Rochr for example) you can search for his gallery. Remember that Renderosity user names are capital sensitive. (rochr) returns no results. You can vote for every picture of his 114 entries all the way back to his first in Oct. 2001. You can add pictures from his gallery to the favorite images on your homepage. You can also add this artist to your favorite artist and get an e-bot every time he posts a new image. When you go to your own homepage you have a quick link to this image where you can vote for it. You can go to a members homepage and read their list of favorites. I went to Rochrs and saw sblecis "In the Forest of Vanishing Dreams". I just voted for it and also added it to my own favorites. I jumped from Rochrs page to sblecis home and then his gallery. Its amazing that his first images look better than my latest. I jumped back to rochrs favorites and found a lot of artists I now like. Searching a gallery by keyword can allows you to see all the images of a particular subject. If Vicki with a sword is your thing you can identify thousands without having to cull from the general images posted. Add your favorites to your my favorites list. If want to go with the flow you can browse the hot 20. Clicking on the image produces the only page where you cant vote for the image. This is to keep lazy couch potato types from voting with the majority and overwhelming other images. But you can add an image to your my favorites page like I just did with Hobbits Paddlestone Castle from there its easy to jump to your homepage and vote for it from your own my favorites list. Remember anytime after 5 days you can revote for the same or more images. If you don't someone else will. If you are tired of all the conflict of the Hot 20 try this. Go to the gallery and click on Bryce and apply. When this page comes up go to the line below that says Sort by: and click on best rankings This is where the 100 all time best Bryce images reside. Sit back and prepare to wipe the drool off your chin.

Vote for me, vote for me, VOTE FOR ME!! *grin*Sambucus posted Wed, 11 August 2004 at 6:06 PM
I`ve just had a stroll throught the Bryce 100 Most Viewed and what struck me was that there was very little of what I might call "real life" in there. Cities are without exception futuristic, landscapes are almost all fantastic and any figures are showing more than their mother would approve of, so now I know what it takes to get a couple of thousand people to look at my stuff. That and get as good as Roch, Flak, Beton, Hobbit etc. Minor detail, LOL.

Don't fret Alan I still love you and I voted for hayes green and gardners corner. I also voted for chicken tonight (now only 999 votes to go) but boobies never hurt. And yes derjimi, just because you asked nice. But I voted for the old pharmacy because it's really excellent!

I don't agree with the idea of voting for older works. I don't think that's what the feature is for. I'm just completely tired of negativity of late. Art has been fun for me up to this point. But now I'm beginning to dread even coming to the forum to see what whiney crap has been posted about the hot20, about pro-render, about comments, on and on.

That's the point MuddyGrub, I'm just a Rubens kind of guy in a Warhol world. You and I don't agree on everything. The Voting Booth doesn't care. All it does is count one vote per person. It doesn't care what kind of day you had, if the vote was well thought out, if you are giving a boost to a friend, if you got bribed for your vote, or if you actually passionately believe this is the best thing ever. It's just going to count continually every vote placed and send the top counts to the hot 20. I won't argue style or quality. I think the main problem now is that there are so few votes people think the voting is rigged. What kind of community is this that 6 people can steal the election from 100,000? If everyone who is complaining just voted every 5 days we would never see this discussion again.
