It seems strange that you see folks in the Bryce Hot 20 who are strangers to the forum. Are we really that unfriendly, unhelpful, or just downright picky?

foleypro ( ) posted Wed, 11 August 2004 at 4:28 PM

We have been portrayed that at other Sites and in other Forums...Not all here are Stressed...I for one just like to kick back and watch the fun...

drawbridgep ( ) posted Wed, 11 August 2004 at 4:28 PM

They're probably lurkers. There are so many new Bryce artists, or at least ones I don't remember seeing before, that they probably haven't got around to scanning or contributing to the forum. When I first joined, I didn't allow comments, didn't check the forum and really just used it as a place to store my pictures. Give them time and they will come. Or yeah, maybe we are just scary. Maybe we should show them our happy faces. Then again I know what most of the regulars look like and maybe that's not such a good idea.

I remember during the whole ProRender thing that our friends down the hall(cough3dcommunecough) were all for it without question and it was claimed that we are immature and argumentative. Strange since of all the forums I'm a member of, you lot are really the nicest, most helpful, eloque... eloquan.... elo... clear speaking people.

Not that many names in the Hot20 I don't recognise now. One is especially familiar (blush).

This is not my "second childhood". I'm not finished with the first one yet.

electroglyph ( ) posted Wed, 11 August 2004 at 5:31 PM

There were 8730 new posts in all galleries over the last fifteen days. I got this by multiplying the number of pages 1455 by 6 images per page. It usually takes me somewhere around a minute to click on each thumb, get it to open, and look at it. If you take only 2.47 minutes to view each image and decide to vote you can keep up with the gallery assuming you never sleep, eat, or go to the bathroom. Or do it at the computer. No wonder these people never visit the forums. They don't have time for anything else.

tjohn ( ) posted Wed, 11 August 2004 at 5:34 PM

If you narrow it down to just the Bryce gallery, it becomes much lower. Most are probably Poser gallery entries.

It isn't too odd, I don't think. Take me for example, been around over a year and I think I've posted in the forum twice or so, lol. I read the forums a lot though, just never have anything to say, really.

drawbridgep ( ) posted Wed, 11 August 2004 at 5:45 PM

There are galleries other than Bryce?

Well that's sort of my point. There is more than enough to do here. A person can't possibly track all the images and keep up with the poser, Bryce, Vue, tarragon, etc. forums and chats. I do read posts and comment. I usually read gallery comments and vote but when 64 people have already said hobbit is great I don't usually leave a 65th "Congratulations, excellent." I think the question that nobody has asked yet is if all these people know each other and vote for each other's work where are they communicating with each other? It's possible they forum at planit 3D and just gallery here, but it seems like an awfully long commute. I'll be the first to admit, a lot of it is a popularity contest. You people talk to me and when I see an image posted with your names in the gallery and it has a crappy thumbnail I still look at the image. I may not vote, but it gives you a slight edge over the wallflowers. I know Drac or AgentSmith or tjohn for that matter more for what they say in the forums than for their prolific renders. Some entries into the hot 20 are like watching a movie with the sound off. I know they're there I just can't figure out how. I could accept competence or a popularity contest. I don't see any communication between these people other than when they post comments in each other's galleries.

Ang25 ( ) posted Wed, 11 August 2004 at 7:12 PM

Ok not to change the subject, but I decided that I would set up a clone account and a second email account just for the purpose of adding all you guys to my favorite artists. Then I would be able to click on my email and go from there whenever you guys posted a new image. Problem is I had a couple of drinks that night. I managed to get the email addy set up but when it came to setting up a clone account all I managed to do was change my regular account's info. WTH did I do wrong? Ok, I know, I had a couple of drinks. So now when I try to set up a clone account sober it doesn't work. And the worse thing is I have a computer science degree. Its so embarrasing. So how this ties in to the whole vote thing, well I don't have time to go thru the galleries regular like, so I'd be limiting my votes to people I know from the forum and while thats not really right, I don't hand out many votes even to close friends. I only vote if I feel like the image stands out to me. And I'd also add artists who don't frequent here if I see something by them that I like. ok I think I rambled on a bit, just my 2 pence

Angela252 ( ) posted Wed, 11 August 2004 at 7:26 PM

Wow I'm now a clone! Its a lot easier to do without a drink in hand, lol. Ok, now to set up that favorite artist list. Thats going to be a pain, there's so many of you guys. :-D Gawd these default colors are killin' me

TwistedBolt ( ) posted Wed, 11 August 2004 at 8:09 PM

nothing beats boobies, bad ambiance or not, sword or no sword.LOL! In all seriousness though, I dont see how you can keep up with sooooo many people.I usually know what everyones doing by the WIPs in the forum.

I eat babies.

Angela252 ( ) posted Wed, 11 August 2004 at 8:20 PM

:-D and so many people never post links to their gallery posts or wips. LOL, I never said I'd be able to keep up, but at least I'll have a running list of who's posted and hopefully will get some time to check it out. Like I said, I've missed so many great posts and this is the only idea I could think of.

drawbridgep ( ) posted Wed, 11 August 2004 at 8:33 PM

I'm top of the Ang clone list! That's 'cause she like me bestest above all you other so na-na-nana-na. The only reason I have enough time to keep up to date with the Bryce gallery and forum is because I'm still waiting for a work permit. I really must send those request forms off at some point. ;-)

it's me, they don't come to the forums because they're scared of me :D

Angela252 ( ) posted Thu, 12 August 2004 at 5:51 AM

@Drawbridge and Bryster: I was afraid this would happen, LOL. Actually Groingrinder would have been #1 but I was having troubles figuring out how best to add artists and for some reason my pc bogged and he didn't get loaded first. Ok, here's how it goes, it would have been alphabetical but that would have been horrendously hard to do. So I just started at the top of the page and worked my way down. A few people got missed in this process, again when my pc bogged. So If I haven't gotten to someone's name its because they haven't posted to a thread recently. And when it was getting late I skipped a few to find people like Flak. I wonder if there is a way to rearrange the list, it would be nice to have it alphabetical.

electroglyph ( ) posted Thu, 12 August 2004 at 8:03 AM

Darn I'm only 6th! How does someone work their way up to the top of the Angela252 list? I know, Trade y'a cyber backrubs. P.S. is there an Angela251?

ROFLMAO! I don't think there is an Angela251 any more than an Ang24. :-( sorry Bryster, of course I still Luv Ya. OMG just had a childhood memory flash back. My stuffed animals used to make me feel bad if I had a favorite. I used to have to whisper to each one that they were my favorite, even tho I did have a favorite. I ain't doing that here! whispers to each person "your my favorite"
