I did not necessarily intend them to look metallic; maybe it is the minerals in the soil? Start with a wide tonal range, nicely detailed color shot. [http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=732541&Start=1&Artist=Misha883&ByArtist=Yes] Take a look at the channels. Here, the RED channel looks nice, but the GREEN looks REALLY nice. Depending on how the whim strikes me, at this point I may choose just to use one channel unchanged. But, for this tutorial, copy and paste the RED channel into a new document. Then, copy and paste the GREEN channel over the RED, and SHARPEN. Then, change the layer blend mode to MULTIPLY, and adjust the opacity, here about 70%. And Flatten. Finally, I apply one one of Donald's curves presets, available in our Resource Center Downloads area (which for some reason I can never copy a link to...).

Beautiful tonality Misha. These are the kind of rich tones I love in black and white. I'm a little distracted by some of the bright little bits on the left side I'd probably clone those out so that all attention is pulled to the beautiful flowers. But that may just be me. -=>Donald
