I started a render to disk last evening; image is 12" x 12" (12 inches square), render 300dpi. I used custom settings, with antialiasing options fairly high quality. This morning, I looked at the screen; there's a "Writing picture" note at the bottom left, with one of the horizontal indicators next to it (like the one you get when saving a scene, etc), and it's still at the very beginning. Is this normal? I tried to hit "Esc" which will usually cancel out a render, and it kept going, and I was able to click on menu items (usually can't do that while rendering), so I closed the file; it asked if I wanted to save changes, I assume render setting changes, and I said yes. So now scene is closed, but the "Writing picture" thing and indicator are still going. Any ideas on what's going on? Can I render other images to the screen while the disk render is going on in the background? This is the first time I've tried this in Pro, so I'm kinda confused, lol! I'm afraid to try the task manager to quit, as I don't want the scene to get corrupted.

thanks in advance.

GeForce FX 5200 BTW...I did check the manual first (always do before posting a question); fairly useless. No info on this that I could find.
