Hmm, just thought I'd post what I have so far.. this is about 2 hours of my brain wandering at work last night, + 15 minutes of bryce + 10 minutes of painting textures, + 5 minutes of photo shop, + ... well no real + after that. This is just the basic skeletal scene, nowhere near the final.

Probably would have helped if I added the image huh? =).

Some things I noticed after a render, I thought the noise I added to the UV maps would be blurred more than it was in bryce. However, there is too much contrast in the noise, and perhaps too much sharpness. there's too much that's still on the diving board in my brain to explain here, especially if I can't or never end up implementing it.

Also, too much dof, which was post work anyway..I'm just posting what I realized after posting this image. needs some dirtying up of the actual models. Needs some more scenery, needs pipes, needs lighting fixtures, needs exposed wires, needs a tiled floor with missing/broken tiles, Needs some grunge painting on the walls. The writing needs to be implemented into the texture, not done in post, needs more continuous lighting. I'm REALLY early in the project as you can see, just thought that I'd put it up here, as it helps me think.

That's a great start, Ornlu.

This is not my "second childhood". I'm not finished with the first one yet.

Another pre-implemented thought, one door is going to have really heavy chains on it. The doors are going to be changed a lot.. and by changed a lot I mean they won't be the doors in the images, but heavy metal doors. I need to also make some better UV maps, as the ones I have now get pretty distorted. Maybe police tape will be strung across the front of the screen, and perhaps some bloor will be visible on the floor, or maybe bloody foot prints.. something creepy. Although the police tape might take away from it.. See this is the problem, I have WAY too many ideas to use them all. Plus I'm allready thinking about the project after this, and one maybe after that.

Is this gonna be the one you spend more than two days on? (like you mentioned in a different thread)

RodsArt posted Sun, 22 August 2004 at 5:02 PM

Maybe hang the police tape from one side ...like it has been disturbed. I think I'm throwin in the towel now. :P

Yeah, hopefully, lol. Trying to take it slow, just add something here, wait a day, add something there. etc.

Well, to continue the theme of modeling everything myself I did two more quickies. This one needs to have the reflection map on the actual bulb fixed, didn't feel like another 20 minute render (omg soft shadows) that's why I usually jsut paint them by hand.. sheesh. Other than the lense flare, it's directly out of bryce.

Ornlu posted Mon, 23 August 2004 at 12:24 AM

Heh, now the original pic is looking more and more skeletal by the minute.

a little electrical box.. the light and this box will both be very small in the scene, so detail isn't really the #1 priority.

Ornlu posted Mon, 23 August 2004 at 2:13 AM

Um I just sort of TOSSED them back into the orriginal scene with complete disregard for scale etc.. And by them I mean just the lights, the doors are still the same and it isn't all wired up... this scene has about 2 hours under it right now, with texturing/modeling/sketching the above image isn't the cumulation of that, just an example of the lighting.

He, he, looks very good, it's gonna be hard this time, and since I decided to enter too, I have to raise mine to etire new level !!! :)

Ornlu - I'm gobsmacked at the light, door and electrical thingy. Not sure that 'beautiful' is the right word. Maybe 'POW!' One thing that strikes me is that the chains on the outside of the door and the 'Please help me' in the corridor don't gel together. Shouldn't the Please help me be somewhere behind the chains? Or is that the mystery MUAHAHA........ whoever did the chaining is asking for help not to carry out the evil deeds his inner voices are demanding MUAHAHA scared

Both pics look like they're straight out of someone's cthullhu inspired nightmare especially the first one, or maybe something from out of clive barkers twisted imagination. Very scary, damn I like them :D

All I can say is that I want to do rusty, worn, scuffed up things just like Ornlu when I grow up! ;) Yummy mats and irritatingly great quick modeling! lee
