Subject: Kinda urgent question on Bryce - moving objects around isn't a smooth move

When you click and drag it's not smooth anymore, for some reason. I put everything down to 8 in terms of frame count or whatever that's called (motion, static and whatever else). But it's still acting that way. Anyone have any ideas? drac

Well, I saved the thing and it went back to normal. i think it's got something to do with the graphics card =/

I get this a fair bit, is usually if I've had my PC on for a while, I just save and reboot and everythings fine.

Are the objects big? If it's your palace, no wonder. Yes, restarting the program clears the memory a bit, but it will soon get loaded again. :-)

Yeah, I get that too. I usually just start using the move icon with the alt key down.

Yeah, saving it dumps it to your hard drive, where most will reside in virtual memory, once you start moving them around again, they pop up into active ram. and if you don't have a @$#@ load of it then it gets choppy fast.. That's why I just gave in and got another gig of ram. 2 gigs works wonders.

It was choppy for me the first time I installed Bryce 4 and Bryce 5, but then I just rebooted and everythings been smooth since. But maybe that's because I have a brand spanking new Sony Vaio.

Make sure you have auto LOD on too. The Level Of Detail will automatically adjust to boxes if a lot is going on. I'm sure that palace is really pushing it ; ) Scott

Could be interrupts caused by the system, windows, or both. Len.

Your system RAM is overloaded, too many objects (polys) for system to handle without trying to catch up with itself. Maybe you should try splitting up your scene into many scenes and then, when complete, merging every scene one at a time to cut down on system overload.

Ornlu is right. After a scene gets beyond a RAM allocation size, then the hard drive is used as virtual RAM. Of course, virtual RAM is much slower than the real stuff. If the MB will support more RAM memory, then adding to the RAM will help quite a bit!
