This is pretty interesting. Apparently it became really popular in 2000-2001, but I had never heard of it. Essentially you create odd shapes and set them into locomotion. It's kind of hard to get your head around at first, but by following some instructions on-site, and figured how muscles work, you should get the hang of it fairly quickly. Just click on Sodaconstructor to get started. They have a default thing walking around that you can toy with. They also have sodarace, where people build either certain designs or different types, pitting themselves against a computer to come up with the fastest/most efficient design scheme.
