Quick question... is the setup.exe for the robot and the setup.exe both residing in the same folder? If so, just move the robot executable out of that folder temporarily, then run the AVG setup again.

draculaz posted Wed, 25 August 2004 at 11:01 AM

johnyf posted Wed, 25 August 2004 at 11:03 AM
yeah drac...enquiring minds and all that...and I still haven't figured out how to get AVG on! @ maxxxmodels...no, it's not in the same folder!
draculaz posted Wed, 25 August 2004 at 11:06 AM
just reboot your comp and you'll be fine. drac
draculaz posted Wed, 25 August 2004 at 11:08 AM
btw, that whole free ram thing doesn't really do anything useful. drac
johnyf posted Wed, 25 August 2004 at 11:28 AM
Solved it, maxxxmodels was right and I did have it in the same folder...didn't recognise the name! @drac.. the free ram thing is part of "PC Booster", which I got when I was having lots of probs! To be honest, I don't know if it does any good or not!
draculaz posted Wed, 25 August 2004 at 11:46 AM
well, at best it tells you how much ram you have free
johnyf posted Wed, 25 August 2004 at 11:53 AM
That's worth knowing, but what about PC Booster, do you know anything about that. I love to know if it actually does any good! johny

I guess drac named one of his files the same as AVG di one of theirs. BTW, as far as I recall, the free AVG updates once in two weeks. that's not enough. Get thee and buy NOD32.

NOD32 (question mark) If you mean norton, that's the most bloated piece of monkey dung I've ever willingly infected my computer with.

ZA's firewall rocks! I find McAfee's Virus Scan Online works well for me (XP Pro) although every two weeks I cross check with Trend micro's Housecall. I also run AdAware frequently too.
Pass no temptation lightly by, for one never knows when it may pass again!

I currently use Smoothwall Linux to protect the whole home network, a) it Rocks and b) it's Free!!!. I also have Panda Platinum running on the windoze boxes and it appears pretty cool, but the Spam filter is a bit sluggish to learn.
