lol, okay

Currently playing Doom3, Star Trek: Elite Force 2 and tonight just finished Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow - IMHO the best of the three! :)

They just released the third in the Thief series, an excellent series IMO. I haven't played anything else for over a year, except solitaire.

Haven't got Doom 3 yet. Don't know if I will for sure. Battlefield 1942 Desert Combat.... that's my game. Allows up to 64 players in one game... 32 opposition and 32 coalition. However next year Battlefield 2 will be out and will be capable of up to 100 players in the same game. Talk about a mini war. I can't wait. lol 8)

hoo boy.. I still have Doom 1 on my system..I read the requirements for Doom 3, looks like the game would cost me..oh, about $400..;)

I wish I'd said that.. The Staircase Wit

Yeah one down side about Doom 3 is the multiplayer... it sucks. Basically once you finish the game.. there isn't a hell of a lot of replay value... It's still fun. Unfortunately i've only put about 2 hours into it since I bought it a week or so ago.. No time no time...

Gog posted Fri, 27 August 2004 at 5:06 AM

I'm in the same situation as Pakled, unless Doom 3 appears on PS2 I probably won't bother, too many say it just doesn't haven't the gameplay compared to newer fps.

Oops didn't realize that we got kicked off to "Lets game!!!" section... ;) Ornlu: Back to Doom3 for the replay value, I just started playing it again. Also we should see some MOD's for it pretty soon. I never got into multiplayer gaming. So I'm not concerned with the multiplayer functionality of Doom3. airlynx: I recently bought Thief (the ancient version, I think it's the first one) still playing that from time to time. Once I finish it will get the latest one too. pakled: Can't go wrong with Doom1 Classic! Gog_CA1: The game play is still classic shootem-up. It's all about the atmosphere... And Doom3 is all atmosphere.

I beat Theif 3 about a month or so ago and I thought it was a worthy addition to the Thief franchise. Thief 2 by far is the best of the three but there will be fourth. As for Doom 3 I'm still in the dang Delta Labs and at this rate I won't be finished with it by the time Half-Life 2 hits the shelves. I guess I gotta put it overdrive huh.

Loved Thief 3 (and the earlier titles in the series) ... a refreshing change of pace from the usual-run-and-gun tendencies of first-person titles.

Anyone who wants the game to look even better should stop by the following two websites and pick up some free high-resolution texture packs:

John P.'s Thief: Deadly Details
Blackthief's castle textures

Hey Little_Dragon thanks for those links that guy really did improve the look of the game didn't he?

:)

Quikp51 posted Sat, 04 September 2004 at 6:44 PM

I just beat it today too and I loved it. I don't know if I want to go through the whole thing again on Nightmare mode but it'll stay on my machine for awhile. End boss looked cool too :)

There is a time, when you are in the Communications Tower, when the bald guy with glasses and a goatee appears on a monitor and asks you to do not send call for reinforcements, but your sergeants want you to do it - so you must take a decision. Anybody knows if that makes a difference in the game?

Quikp51 posted Sun, 05 September 2004 at 2:26 AM

From what people have said on Doom 3 boards choosing to not send the transmission from the com tower only alters some of the dialog. Eventually a signal gets sent out anyways and the marines still come in at the end cinematic.

ttops posted Sun, 05 September 2004 at 6:20 AM

Yep doesn't change the game... Just some of the communications that take place after that.
