I was surfing the web for free 3DS cars, and encountered this site. Not the only one, but I have to bring this up. Ok, if I were to purchase one of these (Would be crazy if I did). Would it be considered mine or would a copyright be with it? Like that is very high (Expensive). Who pays for that? Been to 3DCafe for cars, but the lowpoly count..dunno. Looking for more higher advanced cars.geep posted Sat, 28 August 2004 at 11:32 PM

I have purchase a car from "the hankster". None of em use "Obj" files so I can make textures. Nothing wrong with the products.... And "DAZ"....I am still waiting for a response in the email so I can send a money order. I have one ( $20 money order) made already for one of the cars and they have not responded yet, so I can send it to DAZ. I have my eye on the " 1971 Hemicuda 2n1". All I need to know how to send a money order (The address), and product. Here at Renderosity is so nice and easy. Wish DAZ was like Renderosity. If they do not respond in the next week. The money order is going here. Anyone think the 1971 Hemicuda 2n1 has obj file, so I can make textures? I do not see anything about it.Robo2010 posted Sun, 29 August 2004 at 12:39 AM
Oh..Geep. I was working on the 57 Chevy tonight. I took the 3DS file into poser, then exported it as an Obj. Their was nothing on Groups and material in the UVmapper (Beta Version). I had to delete the file (and Zip folder). How did you get it to that?

Robo2010, To answer your question "Would it be considered mine or would a copyright be with it?" What you are purchasing is the right to use the models not complete ownership. This is from the EULA at the website... "The Datasets are licensed to you, they have not been sold to you."

Anyone think the 1971 Hemicuda 2n1 has obj file, so I can make textures? if it doesn't you could always export it from poser and make one...just keep it to yourself :-)

and here's your address for DAZ... DAZ 3D Productions Inc. 1350 East Draper Parkway Draper, UT 84020

Thanks cooler. One more question. When I send the money order, what do I write the money order out to? "DAZ"?
When exporting out of poser to an "Obj" file. The morphing is gone.
I did that with one of "the hanksters" car (SS7 Supercar). Then imported it after uvmapping. Doors and other posable parts didn't open. They were gone. I couldn't get the proper texture size for the body.

Robo2010, I assume that DAZ, DAZ 3d, or DAZ 3d Productions, would be acceptable. One more thing I'd add, however, would be ATTN: Sales somewhere on the envelope.

Hi Tony,
I have had that '57 Chevy for years.
It is a Poser figure and was done by Dudley.

ernyoka- Try this site. There's info on all kinds of ways to import and export GMAX files. The most popular conversion tool (and the one I use) is 3D Explorer. There's a link to a free version on this site. There's also links to other apps that can do file conversions.nakamuram posted Sun, 29 August 2004 at 7:15 PM

I can import the Red Ferrari F40 in Poser 4 and Poser 5. Which model and what version of Poser are you using?

I was able to download this impreza_final. Which is in LWO format. I am using P5. And I get the error message. http://www.simplylightwave.com/download_pages/object.mhtml?oid=104&catid=34&typeid=4 Also if you check on the link. The "Muscle Car "70" I am having the same problem. The dragster I am able to import no problems into poser. Seeing different versions of LW. Wondering about if I need plug-ins for P5, or is their any?nakamuram posted Mon, 30 August 2004 at 9:33 PM
I am using Poser 5 with the latest patches, version number 5.0.4.325. I can import the Subaru, however the results are not too good. Click on the image of the Subaru Impreza. There is an option to download it as a .3ds file. The 3ds version imports nicely into Poser. I cannot import "Muscle Car 70", I get the same error you do. Perhaps you can use Anim8tor (free) to import and convert this model.

I don't know about the poly count on these models, but you can always try. They are mostly in 3ds format but there are some in obj and dxf also. And on the Honda site they also have a few cars for assembly too. You need to download all parts seperately and then put them together - they are in lwo format: http://www.honda.co.jp/WebPlamo/ Sharkey has some cool cars for Poser too. He also had some free ones, but he is working on his site, so no download right now, but you could ask him about them: http://www.cybergate-corp.ch/webdesig/poser3/
