That dress looks sweeet! As for what's missing for a real Mme Pompadour outfit? Eek, all I can remember is she had this tiny lil handbag, but heaven hlp me for the name L

neftis posted Tue, 31 August 2004 at 3:58 PM

Thanks!!:D here is a side view...(that may help) And it was not the handbag (or purse) that I am refering to...but good try!!!;) (it's not something hidden like the famous 'Paniers' underwear known for making this wide dress hehehehe) BY the way...DID you know that the french doors that are so popular today, were indeed design for those aristocratic wide dresses??? interesting isn't it? :D ok...now...it is an item that truly mark the French style of this epoch...Again good luck;)

BrokenAngel9 posted Tue, 31 August 2004 at 4:00 PM

L Figgers it wasn't the bag/ purse...the only other thing I can remember from various Mme Pompadour movies is a fan...lacefan, I think.
If it's not that, I give up! L Wait, aren't there supposed to be fabric flowers over her dress, too? not printed on the fabric, but made from fabric?

MachineClaw posted Tue, 31 August 2004 at 7:04 PM

ruffles at the elbows giving it a poofy lacey look at the mid arm. that's what is missing.

this looks more like a later 1800, early 1900 version of a colonial southern bell dress.

very lovely, nice job on the little details like the bows on the front. PAL needs the same period clothing! we can do Legend of Sleepy Hollow with Icabod Crane look

She needs a little Mob cap, and tiara and lots of jewels when she wears her powdered wig, shoes, and a cloak :). Please make it for the Girl too :)...if possible

A scarf around the neck tied like a butterfly necktie?

Hmm. I'd guess it still needs the bows at the elbow, just above the engaeant(flirting sleeves). It could indeed use more layers of arm ruffles, but it is still gorgeous as it is!!

Tereesa posted Wed, 01 September 2004 at 7:36 PM

Ooo, a big bow on the front elbow areas. or....

a Shawl! :-D

edit: oops, the bows were already guessed, I can read, honest I can! LOL soooo, I will say embroidery as well! lol Is it the first person that guesses? or all that guesses? LOL

neftis posted Thu, 02 September 2004 at 9:02 AM

Oh boy!!! I think I might have been a little tooo specific!!;) You see, I haven't seen the answer yet...But there was this one thing that makes the dress truly 'french looking' a small detail it is for sure... But here is a link to show what I am talking about... http://www.contouche.de/en/1700/nbg/index.shtml http://www.contouche.de/en/1700/nbg/nb5.jpg I bet you will find out what I mean now;) I am happy of the response tough...cause I already have improved the dress with some more detailing at the sleeves. Now...can you tell me what is really missing?????;) First to post is the winner!!!hehehe Good luck to you all. Nef

Zachrael2002 you seem to got it right;) Those dresses were called 'french style' dresses because of this cape in the back. So...you are the winner!!!!! Please IM me for the details on how to get your prize. Thanks to you all for your participation!

That thing in the back, the scaffolding hehe looks pretty weird, I haven't seen anything like that before. lol :-D Pretty dress Neftis!! Hope you still add the bows to the elbows. lol
