What is a good (inexpensive) choice for turning a series of still image files into a video format (AVI or MPEG)? Any recommendations will be appreciated. Thanks!

I think very highly of VideoMach. Jack

If you don't plan to do some pretty heavy POST with masking, chroma key, color correction and all that "fancy stuff" you can check VirtualDub. You can't layer videoclips or add special effects and transitions but you have a few filters, and the best of all: It's free.

Another good free program is Project Dogwaffle. Doggy bag 2 has an Avi2Animation/Animation2Avi converter and editor. You can go through and make individual frame changes or make major changes in hue, saturation, value, etc. to the whole thing.

Thanks for the great ideas! I'll have to put some time into exploring Dogwaffle a little later -- it looks like a lot of fun. For right now, VideoMach is slick as snot on a doorknob. Thanks for the recommendation!
