Here's an update to the heads-up which someone left a few days ago about the new edition of CA.
The Poser content in this edition is good; an LE (ie lo-res) version of Freak with morphs, clothing and accessories, a repeat of the Dina V package from a few months back, and an Animotions bundle - scenery, characters, props, backgrounds, etc. Well worth getting.

I just called the local outlet for Sam Goody's and they gave me a ten minute song and dance run-around starting with "never heard of that magazine" to "can't find an ISBN number for it" and ending with "I'll have to contact Corporate and see if I'm allowed to take a special order like that...call back in a month." Honestly, people have forgotten what the term "service industry" means! I'll just have to keep looking, but I know I really, really want it!

Man, that's awesome, should be able to get it in a month or two at either the nearest B&N or the Local Hastings.
TrekkieGrrrl posted Thu, 02 September 2004 at 4:37 PM
Perhaps some of the brits could offer to send it? I would gladly pay in advance (PayPal) if it was me. I have the Freak and I got the magazine when dina was there last time, so considering the outrageous price of it here, I'll pass this time. but perhaps it was an idea for someone? Again, I would gladly ship it but since the magazine is almost twice the price of what it costs in Britain, it would be stupid. grumbles about VAT and taxes and whathaveyou one EVERYTHING here...

No it's the same price, it's just that the pound sterling is worth more than the american dollar, so they have to adjust the price accordingly.

I think different priceing within Europe that is the problem. Here in the UK, books, newspapers, and magazines aren't taxed. I gather they are in some other European countries. It's an expensive magazine, even here in the UK. So, I mumble, do I want the Freak, and how much of the Animotions stuff do I already have...
cedarwolf posted Thu, 02 September 2004 at 7:21 PM
Ah, Hastings...only 40 miles away as opposed to B&N that's a 260 mile round trip...hey, living in the middle of nowhere isn't as romantic as it sounds much of the time. I'll call Hastings in the morning and make my plea to them.
TrekkieGrrrl posted Fri, 03 September 2004 at 12:42 AM
Yeah they're taxed here and VAT and all. I gave about 16 (or the equivalent - 170 kr) for that magazine when I bought it. And Denmark isn't THAT far from England after all. Can't all be shipping costs...

The Windows version of the Freak bundle seems to be broken - there are way too few megabytes. The Animotions bundle looks different from last time - unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a master list to copy for you.

Unfortunately, you're right; the Mac installer is 30 Mb-plus. Now we know how Mac users feel; is there a utility for converting Mac Poser archives into a format which Windows can read?
The Animotions bundle is as follows:
Living Room by Architorture
Cave and Jetbike by Cauldron Arts
Poses for Dina V by Cazcie
Basics 2 for Dina V by Dacort
Film and Photo Collection by Dendras
Dina V character by DTG
V3 poses by Firecat
Viomar spacecraft by Ikyoto
Misty Blossom for DAZ PT by Jack D. Kammerer/ByteMeOK
Blue Room by Karanta
V3 arm/leg straps by lilflame
V3 Drag Queen Ultra Shoes by lluque
Nicotinus for M2 by NightCelt
V3 Bomber Noseart poses by Purr3D
Two furniture sets by Stormrage
DynaTex for V1 Clothing Pak / V3 by Sturkwurk.

What? No Freak? I wonder what they'll do to correct that...
RHaseltine posted Fri, 03 September 2004 at 8:15 AM
The Freak LE is there - it's the bundle with clothes etc. that is broken.

Cool, think I'll just pop up the road to WH Smiths and grab a copy, hopefully the new edition of 3D World should be on the shelf as well

For a Mac file, I think the conversion to Windows is mostly the EOL sequence. The "fork" contains some information that in Windows is associated with the filename extension. Hmmm... Could get messy for the filenames too. There's several inside most files.

Just have a Mac using friend drop the files on Maconverter (Export to PC option) and then you've got it. Heh... ;)
