Thanks for providing that. Reading it made me a little sorry for Bob, tho. He seemed a bit unprepared. Came in there with cover art and marketting plan and they all wanted to know tech details. In general I like the directions they are going here. The upgrade came at a lousy time for me, though. I won' t be able to take advantage of the pre-release offer they have.

Someone at Eovia who uses Carrara 4 should be the one invited to the chat room. Not somebody who's unwilling to answer questions or give projections or is looking for free help from end-users for marketing/packaging ideas for a product Eovia wants to keep a secret from anyone interested in buying. I understand George Lucas not wanting to say anything about his next Star Wars movie. But this is just Carrara 4 we're talking about. It needs to be out in the open in a honest manner if Eovia expects to sell to both new and diehard users.

I'd be mildly impressed if Carrara ever had box art that was done in Carrara. But that would make them unique, wouldn't it!

you mean someone at Eovia actually uses C and there are still bugs in it?..lol.. and why feel sorry for Bob? he should have known forwards and backwards this product..he knew what was going to be asked...tho ill give him credit if he does post the answers to the questions he didnt know... im still not sold that the value of the upgrade is worth the price, but..there are a few worthy things in it...i still cant believe more attention was seemingly paid to the terrain editor than to animation..at the very least i want to be able to create a walk cycle and use it...sigh..i liked someone idea about being able to reuse things like that too.. cmon 3rd party guys...lol..

I'm currently working on some new tweeners that I think will be pretty useful- one is called Dynamic Repeat. It lets you specify a section of the timeline (containing an arbitrary number of other keyframes and tweeners) and repeat it a settable number of times, with an option to retain the original timing, or to compress (or stretch) the number of cycles to fit into the new section being tweened... dang, that sounds complicated. . . here is what the interface looks like. . . the real beauty is that you can then go back and tweak the original sequence, and your changes are reflected down through the rest of your animation. . .
There is also a Scaler that takes a sub-tweener and multiplies it (gets around those annoying rep limits) and a Limiter which is designed to align actions. I hope to get these out in the near future. Any interest??

sweet...you took your cue nicely...;)...definitely some interest here...:) something else that would be nice...and i dont know if this is going to be capable with the new morph targets, but... what about a compatibiliy with poser morph targets...theyre premade, sooo..if we export something from poser to use in C then we can export the morphs and use them as well..facial stuff, phoenems, etc...:)
nomuse posted Fri, 10 September 2004 at 2:00 PM
You already can. Just morph the object in Poser then export the obj.
todd71 posted Fri, 10 September 2004 at 4:58 PM
and we're able to use that as a morph target in animation?

There is going to be another Eovia chatroom event schedule for October. This time Bob will be at the Eovia offices not at home. :-) Plus we will also have Charles head of enginering at Eovia to answer the tech questions. Later Ringo
