Subject: Is there a tool/prog that scales objects created outside of poser?

I thought I read somewhere about a program that scales things created outside of poser, so that they aren't huge when imported into poser. does this exist? 8-)

Well if you are useing a modeling program,(with most) you can set the percentage size upon export.

Or....
When importing into Poser, in the "Prop Import Options" window you can set the Percent of standard figure size to something less than the default 100% (then save the prop).

yeah, that's what i've been doing. I just thought there was a program that converted objects to the same scale that poser uses, so that the scale is more accurate to poser.

Just a word. Scaler doesn't 'convert objects to the same scale that poser uses'. That is, it scales them up or down, but you have to know the amount you want to scale. Don't get me wrong. It's useful, but it's not a 'magic' automatic conversion tool. mc

Unfortunately Scaler has no way of knowing what scale you created the object in in the first place so there's no way it way it can be a 'magic' bullet. In Max (and I assume most other 3D applications) you can choose your base dimensions as feet and inches, millimeters, furlongs, cubits, light years or whatever, and each needs a different scaling factor when going to and from Poser. I find a scaling factor in the range from 100 to 1500 will work in most cases. Experiment a bit to find what works best for you. Incidentally, I've now done a Scaler upgrade which will cope with the use of a comma as a decimal separator (as used in mainland Europe). This will be on Freestuff shortly, but in the meantime an e-mail to me - maz@sandylodge.demon.co.uk - with Scaler in the subject heading will get you a free upgrade. Regards, Maz

hmm anychance of putting in a scale factor? eg: in my modeler I build the model to the meter scale. running it through Scaler I could then tell Scaler I used meters to build with and it could go, "oh right, how long is the model in the X axis?", I enter 4 and scaler then uses that to convert it from modeler meters to poser meters. or am I just talking outta my hat lol

Yes, that should be possible. I'll see what I can do. Another feature I could add would be for Scaler to remember your personal preferences for scale factor in each direction, which might be different from somebody else's.
