I think in this case the anger is somewhat warranted.

So, I had this idea for a contest.... Saw this coming when members started having their own contests, don't agree with the way it was handled though.

I think the big misunderstanding came from, one, the mods weren't alerted to the contest, two, contests can be held in the 'forums', especially the 'contest' forum , hence the name, but not in the 'galleries' as it really clutters up regular gallery postings more than they already are, burying new posts under 'contest' entries, three, both copyright and trademark infringement concerns were possibly being prompted by the 'contest' rules...

But they should have asked the contest people to remove/rename or move the works to the appropriate venue, before removing them, at least giving them the benefit of the compliance...

Wow, what a commotion! A lot of hackles up about this, I could feel the heat radiating through my monitor. I think some of my gusted back hair was singed as I read the thread. I wasnt aware of this situation going on in the background. In the end the mistakes were noted, apologies offered, understandings made clearer and restorations are being attempted as well it should be. All of a sudden people were seeing business opportunities opening up at the expense of someones hasty mistake. Other graphic web sites were opening up their beckoning arms to the possibility of a mass exodus. Artists talking about boycotts, perhaps even merchants pulling their stuff from the shelves. Im sure that thread made some people stand up and take notice. In the end, alls well that ends well. Im glad to see this come to an amicable, even if not totally compensatory conclusion.

Whoa... :^) I don't think a single image should be pulled from the galleries without an accompaning explanation...and they normally aren't...and after plowing through all those posts, it seems that one of the Admins made an admitted series of errors and is now doing as much as can be done to make repairs. So it goes...
