Members who take advantage of the Renderosity Web Ring/Sponsor program are expected to implement the Web Ring code somewhere on their sites. As of tonight, entries with no referral activity after 30 days in the program will be scrubbed from the program automatically whenever the ring is resequenced. Members are free to sign up again whenever they like.

Placement of the Web Ring code on the front page of your site is the fastest way to generate member referrals and move your site to front of the ring.

Well it seems pretty pointless for me to have a webring link on my main page then, because my 1 joining member and 7 referals just won't make the grade. I don't get a huge amount people visiting because I don't advertise my site. The main reason I had the link there was for the ease the visitors that I do get to travel around some of the 3d sites and admire as I do the wide spectrum of talent out there. Regards Eshal

Eshal, The sites that would be removed would be the ones that have no referrals at all. Most likely because they don't even have the link on their page.

Heya, Thanks for the clarification Jeff that puts my mind at ease :) Regards Eshal

I'm confused. I have a link on my homepage to the Renderosity forums. Is that out of date? Could you check it out and let me know?JeffH posted Mon, 20 November 2000 at 2:35 PM

Duane, You need to add the WebRing HTML under the graphic to update it. Go here to find it: http://www.renderosity.com/refermember.ezHandspanStudios posted Mon, 20 November 2000 at 6:12 PM
How do I know if anyone has been referred from my site?

If you go to the link above, it will provide you all that information.

I have to agree with Eshal. I can smell the old Poser Forum Web Ring policy here - exclusion. Please declare your intentions! What's it gonna be - another 200 members exclusive web ring, or what? I got the feeling this was going to happen the minute I heard that the merge was a fact. How I miss Jack Kammerer! Regards, Zoot

No website here yet but here's my unsolicited .02: It would be a lot easier to just charge the webring members "X" amount of dollars for placements based on position...I'd hate to stop coming to renderosity because of a philosophical difference of opinion I've learned a lot here and I hope I'm misinterpreting what's going on.....

Enough is enough! My site and my images are fullfilling the Renderosity rules. So now what - we are all beeing threatened to be excluded from Renderosity Web Ring. Arent my images good enough? If you take my site of the ring, youre telling me that they arent. Are there possibly just financial interests behind it all? I hope for an honest answer. Thank God for Bryce Web Rings where you can feel at home and secure. Kaholmli

Yes, I think everyone here has misunderstood the new policy. Please read my reply to Eshal very closely: "The sites that would be removed would be the ones that have no referrals at all. Most likely because they don't even have the link on their page." -Jeff H.

Ok then, Jeff. I'm sorry - maybe I overreacted a bit. But a lot of misunderstandings could be avoided by more distinct declarations. Live well. Zoot <=== Shoot me! ;o)

Hey just thought I would let you know my spin on the situation: What Jeff is saying is that to be eligible for the 'web ring' you must have the actual webring code on your page. I had just the button and link back to Renderosity on every one of my pages and it still said that I didnt have the code on my page. I scratched my head a bit and ignored it... then Jeff sent me an email saying that I had to put the full webring code on my page to be eligible... I did and the message saying that my site wasn't up to code went away. Best way I can think of to make sure you don't get removed is to place the WEB RING code on your page and test out all of the links (Previous, Next, Previous 15, Next 15, etc.) this will make sure the ring is working and also give you your minimum 1 referral :-) Hope this helps some.... if not then I apologize for wasting the space :-) Eric

Once the Web Ring is esablished could we have the main list in alphabetical order to facilitate the finding of a particular site.

Did I miss a notification somewhere of this change in the code? The original code I received when I signed up for the Sponsor program seems invalid now although it worked fine a few months ago. And ..... wow, I just realized that the last post here was like 1 1/2 months ago hehe

Colius, Whats your website URL? Eric

http://members.nbci.com/Colius/artwork.html is the page the link is on.

You need to make sure you have the webring code... not just the link code... on your site. Eric
Colius posted Sat, 06 January 2001 at 2:20 AM
When I joined, it was just the Sponsor link. THat was really all I wanted. I only get like 10 visitors a day if I'm lucky hehe. I will look into the webring code tomorrow though. Thanks.

The new Directory feature allows anyone to list their site with a logo for FREE and is broken out into hopefully meaningful categories. It is searcheable or can display the sites in alphabetical order. Please feel free to list your graphics related site or business there right away. The Sponsorship/Web Ring functionality is a different deal. It is a reciprocal traffic generator. It is extremely biased towards promoting those sites that are loyal to Renderosity and refer traffic to us. It understands the notion of loyalty over time, but emphasizes "what have you done for me lately" in calculating the order of the Ring. Tim
