Ok I am staying late a doing a bigger project tonight. I am trying to figure out how to do something in my head. I want to make a huge letter spinning fairly fast for about 10 seconds...I keep hitting the same problem tho...I cant make it spin more than 360 degrees...I have tried to spin other things and once it hits 360 it either stops what its doing or starts going backwards.

Have you tried using the Spin modifier that's in the Property tray?

Yep - Same problem here. It was really upseting me for one project I was working on. I would set the timeline to 0 and the Yaw to 0 for the object. I would then move the timeline out and spin the Yaw up to 360. I ran the animation and it went from 0-180 and then back to 0. Basicaly spinning 180 degrees one direction and then 180 back the other way. I think I resolved it by moving the Yaw to 358 rather than 360 and if I remember correctly that worked. Its been about a year since that project. See if that helps out.... Clint

Ok my after effects background is almost done rendering so I will give both these solutions a try...I'll let you know what happens :)

Ok that didnt work out so hot...the letter now only rotates once :( The nearest I can figure it out I will need to use Clint's method (missionary? j/k) and just duplicate the letter over and over and move it so the key frames match up. I think someone should write a nice plug-in that will allow you to set rotation XXX and degrees XXX. I am assuming that I could use physics right now but this thing is due tomorrow @ 9 and I dont think the render will be done 'till at least 10, maybe 10:30. Hopefully enough will be there to make things work :)

Brenthomer, in the properties tray go to the modifiers tab and add "spin" under the behaviors tab. in the cycles per second select 1 for example and then set the duration time to say 4 secs. if you drag the scrub bar in the sequencer tray you should see your letter spinning one time per second. don't set any degrees or yaw--the modifier takes care of that for you. just adjust the cycles per second and the duration to fit your needs. hope this helps--i just did it in about a minute and it works fine.

lol..thanks. I don't know why I was so stupid about this last night..maybe it was the rush of haveing to get it set up and done in like 40 mins. I see it now tho :) As it was I only had 8 of the 10 sec rendered when the client needed it. Lucky for me they loved it :) BTW: No matter what the future holds for Carrara I love the whole hybrid render & light sampleing. Yes it may cause some weird errors but at crunch time you can kick at a cool animation with all those wizards for text, landscapes, etc.
