Hello everyone, I am doing a survey about water animation for my diploma. And I need as much input as possible. It would be really great if you could take a few minutes and fill out the survey. It is fully anonymous and does not take long. http://www.teknotic.de/umfrage/ And it would be great if you could send this mail to all the people you know! This is not intended as spam, it is really important to have a lot of data for this study. I appologize if anyone thinks of this as spam. Thanks for your time! -- Best regards, Wojtek Gawinek mailto:wgawinek@gmx.net wojtek.gawinek.deKemal posted Sat, 25 September 2004 at 12:41 PM

That's a freakin LONG survey. Sorry, but I stopped anwering the questions after the first two. The first two movies look great though, and particularly the first one is the most convincing of those two. I don't think anyone would realize it's 3D unless they were extremely well versed in fluid dynamics. The abrupt "end" to the flow is what gives it away for me. So what fluid simulator did you use there? Looks like RealFlow to me. And yeah... this is NOT Bryce related in the least. Bryce isn't that great at fluid dynamics simulations... yet.

Hi guys, Well its not done in Bryce, but its trying to recreate a natural thing and Bryce is trying to do the same right? Thats why I post it here, you guys deal with water in Bryce too when trying to make good nature renderings?! Also I really need feedback from anyone, even people who dont know of 3D at all, thats why it would be great to send it to all your friends! I mean, Im not trying to sell anything here =) If you think the survey is too long, why not filling it out without writing your own comments?! Then it takes not that long. The own comments field is really just optional. And yes, it is Realflow, rendered in Mental Ray for Maya. Thanks again for every participation! greetz, tek

Well.... I filled out the survey. Don't think it hurts to help out a fellow artist. Hope it helps you out Tekattack.
There are 10 kinds of people: Those who know binary, and those who don't.

Well I filled it out and found it a little interesting to do so. The animations were very similar, but I felt the ones that had camera movement gave a more realistic feel.... an interesting point to remember, I've alway tended to have moving cameras in animations that I've done but never really thought of it as a mechanism to gain added realism, more just done through 'feel'.
