i dont even know if any of the other packages can do this, but how are clouds in C4, for those who have been previewing it? is there a way to make thick rolling clouds yet? besides having to creat flat planes and do a workaround...etc etc... its not a must have, but itd be a nice thing to have...:)

Take a look at the following threads: http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?ForumID=106&Form.ShowMessage=1942496 http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?ForumID=106&Form.ShowMessage=1943562 http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?ForumID=106&Form.ShowMessage=1937109 Mark Bremmers really shows what you can do. They also improved the 4d clouds, so they are better as well. Brian

The sky editor can't do thick rolling clouds, the 4d clouds come the closest. This image uses carrara's 4d cloud primitives mixed with the realistic sky . It is very easy now to create sky alpha maps that mix with the realistic sky , its still a work around but it is much easier and better than before. I have posted a bunch of images to the gallery that use the several tecniques available to c4.

If you're talking big, bulbous rain clouds and thunderheads, 4D clouds can't do that. (although you can now do things with them that we're not possible earlier thanks to some improvements.) You can get close to true cumulus clouds with a couple variations of the particle generator - it's on my tutorial list!

mark: What were the improvements to the 4D clouds? Do you have more parameters to control? Did the interface window for 4D clouds change? If it did can you post a screenshot. Thanks, vin

The improvements to the 4D clouds may not be obvious unless you were in the habit of abusing them like I do and have one of the systems that had "issues" with them. Depending on the settings, I would get goofy renders. Those things no longer happen. No earth shattering improvements - they simply work better now. I know Eovia is very aware that many, including me, would like improvements to the 4D clouds. There were just more people interested in some of the other things that are coming out in C4 - and they're good things! So, I'm back to my usual complaint, "Why can't I have everything and why can't I have it right now!"

Mark--Thats enough of that! Go to your room! And I don't want to hear anymore of your complaining!
