I have looked through the various posts here but have not found an answer to my question, so I'm going to post it here and hope someone has the answer.

If someone has an item in a public wishlist and another person wants to purchase that item for him/her, is there some mechanism that ensures that several copies are not purchased? Is it possiblt that mean several copies can end up being purchased for that person? Or does the item disappear from the public wishlist once it has been purchased for that person?
