Looks very cool. How is it shipped and why is it PC only? Just wondering if there was some special thing or if it just hadn't been tested on a Mac. Also .. How much would it be in dollars? I just am not very fluent in Euros. Thanks

Ghostofmacbeth posted Sun, 10 October 2004 at 8:52 PM

Ah .. Figured out the dollar thing. It jsut didn't stick the first time I switched it.

getjolly posted Sun, 10 October 2004 at 9:06 PM

it has only currently been tested on PC. if your desperate for a MAC version drop us an email/im and we'll see what we can do! ;)

Will do .. That is all I use and most stuff works fine on them with a few exceptions that can normlly be worked around.

wyrwulf posted Sun, 10 October 2004 at 9:23 PM

Great looking figure. How will it work in Poser4?

mathman posted Sun, 10 October 2004 at 9:38 PM

He looks a bit like Judy :))

getjolly posted Sun, 10 October 2004 at 9:45 PM

wyrwulf - We really wanted to push P5 - the character uses displacement mapping, and has been designed for the firefly renderer. If there is a demand for a p4 version it is something that we will certainly look at doing - using bumps instead of displacements :) mathman - beauty and the beast??? :P jolly

The Jolly Troll looks great :) .... I was only joking about Judy, the Troll is much much better looking than Judy, LOL. Are you planning to add more cryptozoological (or even humanoid) characters to your store ? Your new webstore looks fantastic. I wish you every success, I'm sure you'll do really well :)

Neo10 posted Mon, 11 October 2004 at 2:31 AM

How about looking into a ds version ds uses displacement mapping.

getjolly posted Mon, 11 October 2004 at 10:17 AM

stonemason - 25,109 faces , we wanted to keep the geometry as light as we could for ease of posing and use. There are more statistics and morph lists etc. on the site, on the buttons just above the product images, lists should just pop right up at you! If you have any problem with site let us know, as its all a bit new! mathman - Once logged in at getjolly.com if you click on 'notifications' in your login area, or 'product notifications' when viewing the product the site should let you know when new things are available. Your right he does look a bit lonely there on his own! He's got a couple of animal friends on the way and as it's getting colder a few garments and beating sticks will be available soon. neo10 - we will support DS when its out of beta. thank you all for the kind comments, we have been working hard on both, and been having lots of fun, blood sweat and tears. ;) Team Jolly

It looks really good. I would buy this in a heartbeat, if it weren't for my uncertainty of whether it will work in the manner that I would need it to. Basically, I do not render in Poser. I use Vue 5, or Shade, or Carrara to do my renders. Mainly Vue 5. Because it uses displacement maps, I don't know whether it will work correctly without major re-texturing on my part. If worked for Poser 4, then I know it would work for me. If anybody tries this, please let me know how well it worked for you.

coldrake posted Mon, 11 October 2004 at 12:40 PM

I'm with Jcleaver, I'd buy it in a second, but I only render in Bryce, I'd have to see what it looks like without the displacement maps. In any case, GREAT figure! Coldrake

Neo10 posted Mon, 11 October 2004 at 4:47 PM

Cool. I will buy it as soon as it worked in ds since that is what i use to render. :) It looks fantastic.

OddDitty posted Mon, 11 October 2004 at 4:49 PM

This is an outstanding figure. Really has a lot of wonderful detail in it!

getjolly posted Mon, 11 October 2004 at 5:18 PM

jcleaver - if Vue 5, Shade, or Carrara do a good job in translating firefly's shading networks into there own native materials, then there should be no problem. Shade's new pugin 'PoserFusion' for loading 'poser stuff' from CL should do this??? coldrake - we are currently working on a p4 version. and will hopefully have renders for you to look at soon. team jolly

Very impressive character !

Jcleaver posted Mon, 11 October 2004 at 6:14 PM

Unfortunately, none of them translate Poser 5 materials at all. I guess I will have to wait for the Poser 4 version. I was really hoping that Shade would have done this; and perhaps in the future it will.

Neo10 posted Mon, 11 October 2004 at 11:42 PM

Yeah!! a p4 version that means i can use it in ds cool :)

hi all, We have removed the fancy-smancy windows installer and just uploaded a new file to the site in .zip format, so all you mac users can play!! Paypal has been on and off line all day (apparently they have been blasted by a ddoc attack). Because of this we are extending the special 10% intro discount on the troll. cheers team jolly
