Eh... I'm not a techy or anything, but I had the trial of photoshop cs, then got the full photoshop 7 and don't see much of any difference, though CS has extra goodies like panarama for example. I think all plugins, brushes, etc that could be used in earlier photoshop versions can be used in the newest version... Though, I did have photoshop 6 for a little while and none of the custom brushes and such I downloaded made with PSP 7 and CS, worked on PSP 6... Hope this helped some... Lady Sythe

Brushes made with PS7 can be used in either PS7 or PSCS. Brushes made with PSCS don't work in PS7. This is a generalized statement, as perhaps there is the rare exception. Not sure about actions or styles, as Ive never tried those (gone back to PS7 until they fix what they broke). The brush engine in both are the same, except for the one feature of flipping the brush on the X and Y axis in CS. Adobe has taken the move against backward compatibility in there major software (Indesign,Illustrator, and PS),I guess in an effort to keep sales moving forward. Bottom line.update your brushes in PS7. SWAMP

it's best to keep separate versions available. it's always safer to just assume that the brushes WON'T work in earlier versions... so i'd do an update for ver7 and then those with CS can still use the brushes. if you do the update in CS that knocks out the PS6&7 people

Exactly! (to that last sentence) I tried to use brushes I downloaded from deviantart and I could not use them on PS6 grumbles, remembering how she downloaded many megabytes of cool brushes only to have to delete them...cause they were made with PS7 Anyway... eh... Good luck! You should have TOO much trouble... LS
